motorcraft oil

i know when it comes to the parts for the 2.3 we ALL use motorcraft when its available. well what about motorcraft oil. in the "how many quarts w/ filter change" thread, it is obvious we prefer the motorcraft filter. everyone tells me to use mobil 1 or valvoline conventional oil to break in my 0 mile motor. well i cannot find mobil 1 conventional oil anywhere (AZ, bastards, wal-mart, ect.) they are all synthetic. and im sure there is better oil then bent valvolines or quaker shake. why not break my motor in w/ motorcraft 10w30? no one, when i asked, recomended this to use in my motor.

Mobil One IS synthetic. The regular Mobil oil is just called Mobil (box says "Drive Clean" or something like that). I found regular Mobil at K-mart and I'm sure it's also at other places too.

Anyway, you can break in an engine with any oil as long as it's conventional oil, it doesn't really matter since you change it after around 500 miles or so. Just get something cheap.

You might want to wait until 3000+ miles to switch to a synthetic. Most OEMs even recommend that. Either way, you should definatly change the oil at 500miles.
When I am cheap, and use regular oi, I go with valvoline. When I use a synthetic, I go with mobil 1. There are some oils that scare me. While you could more than likely go through the entire life of the engine without any issues, I would still never use quacker state or penzoil.

They push royal purple on all the car shows, but screw that, that junk is something like $7-8 a quart.

Also I doubt stinger would tell you to break it in with mobil 1 because he tells everyone else to use conventional oil for break in.

Just go get some exxon superflo and be done with it, it's like $15 a case.

10w30 Valvoline or Mobil 1...drain it and put on a new filter at 500 miles and then drain it again and filter at 1500...run a full 3000 miles, drain and new filter...fill with Mobil 1 Synthetic (if you want and can afford) or stick with the conventional Valvoline or Mobil 1.

he probably meant just mobil. but it sure as hell confused me.

I am sure that in Stingers case that was just a typo, he rarely makes a mistake in giving information out. I am sure that he will post in here soon saying that. I personally use Quaker State, no reason I am just used to it. I will be changing to MC Oil After the Turbo Swap though.
