What are the best short shifters for 5.0 cars?

  • Sponsors (?)

Try doing a search next time, lots of posts out there that will answer your question on short shifters. Then if ya can't find what ya need post it, but it's np. :D

Anyway, the top 2 choices I seen in shifters is the Pro 5.0 and Steeda Tri-ax. I have shifted both (Pro 5.0 on my stang, triax on a t45 in a 99 cobra) and I will say both are quality shifters. Can't go wrong with either.

MGW short throw, Steeda tri-ax, Pro5.0.

Everyone will recommend you get whatever they have/like.

I'll start out with the MGW. Shortest, quietest, strongest.

who's next?

There's been a blue million shifter threads here lately, try a search :D.

There really is no best shifter. It mostly depends on your preferance. Tri-Ax will give you more comfort and durability while not sacrificing performance. Pro 5.0 is more compact, if you like to bang through gears quickly. MGW has had so many great reviews as well. It just depends on what kind of feel you want to have. I don't think you'll be upset with anything you choose. I've got the Pro 5.0 and it's very nice.

I have had the Pro5.0 and the B&M Ripper shifter, I would take the B&M Ripper over the Pro5.0

The opposite is true for me...I love the Pro 5.0 over the B&M personally...I see the Tri-ax/Pro 5.0 in the same "class" but the B&M is dropped out of that class IMO...personal preference...

I'm really wanting to try that MGW shifter...maybe I'll talk my buddy with a 2000 GT (wanting a shifter) into getting one...he is going to get the Pro 5.0 ('cuz of me)...after he drove it he wanted one...the Pro 5.0 feels so stout and I love the "straigtness" of it...unlike the bend in the Triax and others...so it kind of throws the stock shifter like feel away because the stock shifter has a bend in it also...

I know Hurst is really famous for their shifters, and make several for the T5, but nobody ever mentions them. Its always about the tri-ax, pro 5.0, B&M and now the MGW. Is there a reason why Hurst isn't as popular? I like the look of the shift boot not coming all the way up to the shift knob. I like to actually see some of the shifter.

Hurst was really big during the muscle car days (actually had a couple cars named after them or based on it)...but I figure the price vs. quality doesn't have as good of a ratio as the Pro5.0/Steeda...etc...and maybe some don't like the visible shifter? That is kind of like the Roush shifter...
