On 86- 91 cars the fuel pump relay is under the seat, 92 and later cars, the fuel pump relay is under the Mass air duct on the passenger fender well.

Note that the wire colors changed in 1991, so there are two different descriptions.

86-90 model cars:
Cut the red/black wire going to the fuel pump relay. Splice a 16 or 18 gauge wire into the wire and connect it to one side of the switch. Connect the other side of the switch to the other end of the red/black wire going to the fuel pump relay. When you are done the switch should be in the middle of the spliced red/black wire that goes to and comes from the fuel pump relay. Using the control side of the circuit allows you to use light gauge wire and light duty switches. There is less than 1 amp going through the circuit, so you don’t have to worry about voltage drop across the wiring depriving the fuel pump of electrical power.

91-93 model cars:
Cut the Lt Blue/Orange wire going to the fuel pump relay. Splice a 16 or 18 gauge wire into the wire and connect it to one side of the switch. well,a car alarm is a good deterent.most theifs dont want the hassle when they see that led flashing on the dash and know you have one.my alarm is so hidden,i prob have miles of wire going to it.i would mount the alarm anywhere but in the dash.thats where everyone mounts them due to ease.truth of the matter is,if someone wants your car bad enough, everything is useless.but i would make it hard as you can for them.

Really, the flashing light is the only real deterent. A thief is going to rip the gauges out of my car before he's going to bother stealing it... Either way it just plain sucks.

My alarm is more to unlock the doors...

Yeah those who dont have any anti theft or starter kill on their stangs are just asking for trouble. I was never worried about it I live in phx az and who would want a stock 1986GT??? Well it was obvious someone wanted one "good taste at least"

Well I started pulling the rest of the column apart I need a whole new tumbler housing. How do you get the tilt steering mechanism off the column though? It semi rotates on two out pin with machine screw thread and it has to slots to pull it straight out once you get those out i guess?? I looked in my haynes manual "crappy azz book ever made" and it had nothing other how to replace the tumbler and module. I was guessing so i found two screw with the same thread type and put them and tried to pull them out but no luck and i dont want to mess it up because i'm going to have to goto a recycle yard and get the housing and i have to know how to do this. Here are some pics of what i'm talking about.

i'm sorry to hear about your car, my 65 was messed with a couple of times, more like vandalism though, damn jealous people.... as far as the 5.0 i got a little cheap dual stage alarm, i didnt set it too sensative so a passing car wont set it off, its only been set off once actually and that was by my dad, it has a big flashing led light by the left side of the column. so it has done the trick if i'm really worried about where i parked it i take the fuel pump relay with me, the car will start but it'll die about 5 seconds later
