Boyd Coddington Smoothie IIs

I just got a set of Boyd Coddington Smoothie IIs for the stang. I live in Long Island NY and am very torn as to whether or not I should put the wheels on or wait for the spring. This car is my daily driver, and they will see snow next winter. Help

On a daily driver, sooner or later, they'll see snow, right? And right now, you're more apt to keep them spotless, right? I say go for it - the BC Smoothies are awesome. What size, where did you get em, and how long did you have to wait for them?
Congrats and welcome to StangNet!!!

those are too nice for winter imho.

btw, i have decided i really don't like boyd; after witnessing him on that show for the past season. i am putting him on my auto-related hate list with brock yates.

My best advice would be to not ever use them in snow. Switch to your stockers before the first snow-fall.

My buddies dad has a set of boys on his durango and he didnt change them for a few weeks and they look like hell when you get up close. They are all pitted and need cleaned up pretty badly.

Good choice! I love those wheels. I would buy a set of 15" V-6 wheels with good snow tires for the winter, you'll be better off that way and keep your Smoothies nice too.

Me too. Boyd Coddinton is an egotistical jerk. If he ever talked to me the way he talks to those guys at his shop he'd be picking his teeth up off the floor. He will never profit from my hard earned dollar. Plus I think he's gay, not that there is anything wrong with that. :D

Nice wheels. Save them for the Spring/Summer. I bought Billet Specialties for my car and drove them during an Ohio winter.. They look like crap now.. Ive seen some people do a clear powder coat on polished wheels and they hold up much better..

I couldnt buy Boyd's product. I dont know what "his" hot rod skills actually are..But putting your name on someone else's design makes me sick! Some of his color combos are butt ugly.. I dont think blue and yellow go together as much as he tries to make it go together! His employees spend too much time arguing..Heck if overhaulin can redo a Mustang-top notch- in a week and Boyd's guys complain because they only got "6 weeks"....WTF?

I think he can be an ******* to some of his employees also. And I agree about some of his hotrod color combos suck. But his wheels are sweet. I don't care who you are. I just wish he didn't sign everything.

My buddy has a 2004 Boyd Coddington Roush with the Smoothies mounted. If I were you I would definitely wait to put them on. They are a pain in the ass to keep clean. If it rains the shine fades, he spends more time polishing the damn wheels than he does driving it.

The difference between OCC and Boyd is that Paulie and Mike like to push seniors buttons. They have fun doing it. Everyone in Boyd's shop is just being a jerk.

I like those rims. I thought about getting a set for my 70.
