Good news: After seeing me mope around the house for a few weeks the Wife said she WANTS me to buy the new mustang GT.

Bad news: She might change her mind over the 3 1/2 dang months!

In any event, I am going to place the order for my Windevil Blue GT on Friday at Mossy Ford in San Diego. I have not been able to drive a GT since there are NONE in San Diego, unless you count the one at Kearny Mesa Ford for $9,000 over MSRP. Yes $9,000. Hope that one throws a rod.

I drove the V-6 a week ago, and loved the car, but felt it was wimpy on power. My wife's v-6 accord could drive circles around that thing, so I am GT bound. Sure hope I like it. Trying to keep it cheap, since this is a second car for me, and what I really want is the power. So all I will be adding is the leather option. Ford has got to be losing money on me.

In a while I will look at a custom hood with scoops like a 68 Shelby. Take care.

I know how frustrating trying to find a GT can be in the SD area.

I ordered a GT through Heller on Oct 30. Ford Customer Service tells me it should be at the dealership between Dec 20-27, which is in line with the 8 to 10 weeks they told me it should be.

As for dealer markup, I saw one at Baker for 3k over and a salesman at Pearson said that one sold recently at 4k over. 9k over MSRP is crazy.

Good luck with your future purchase.

I can't imagine anything finer than finding this car under your Christmas tree. Ordering early was smart. In regard to dealers, I have found Perry Ford in Poway and Mossy Ford in Pacific Beach are two of many dealers selling the GT for MSRP off the lot. I can really respect those dealers, and have used that as the deciding factor on where to buy. I am certainly not going to buy from one of those lots saving their on stock GTs for the uber-rich.

I have only seen two GTs on the road in San Diego. One was parked, and the other was going so dag nab fast, all I caught was the glimmer of the paint and the squeel of the tires as he hit second.
Best, L.L.

thats cool man .. i decided to buy mine like two weeks ago and i finally got mine on tue.. best thing to do is call a bunch of dealers.. sh@t i spent like 4 hours on the phone calling dealers all over cali and i found my gt 05 black on red leather it was an hour an a half ride to where it was but well worth it ..... i looked under forddirect.com and i also google all the citys zip codes in california.. so i typed in all the city zip codes and started making calls.. some dealers told me i would not find my car for like 4 months ..dont beleave what they say.. i found mine in one day..

If you want one quicker, find a dealer a few hours from you in Nevada or something. They might have one sitting on the lot. There is nothing preventing you from buying a car out of state. You just need to pay the states sales tax to the state where you are registering the car.

Plus Everything is 10x more in San Diego.

Let me know the specs. I will make you a sweet deal on the GT you want to order. Send me a pm or e-mail me. I have been helping everyone here that has asking for help!
let me know I am here to help!! :spot:

I live up in notrh county and I have seen the GT's on many occasions at Heller ford, North county Ford, and In car country carlsbad. I dont know if they still have it or not but North county ford sent me an email that they have a black one that somebody backed out of. If u r just looking for the windveil blue that will be a bit tougher. Good luck on finding one.

Thanks for all the tips. I searched about 6 dealers in central and east san diego, but not the north. Sounds like they may have some more. Its a really tough choice, since I know the odds of getting the Windevil blue GT by luck are slim to none. So, what do you think, make the sacrafice moving to a different color, or setlle in for a long winter (and spring????)

I'm 47 and wanted to avoid the "come kill me" colors. I think the blue is classy.

Shoot, had my mind made up yesterday too! L.L.

Windveil is the best color

Thats too bad you can't find one yet. Fortunately, I am in South Bend, IN, where people just don't buy sports cars during the winter. I was able to pick up a brand new Windveil GT Premium right off the dealer lot around November 18. No one had simply bought it yet.

Around 300 miles so far and it runs perfectly. I am hopeful that it will be as or nearly as reliable as my wife's 98' v6 stang, which has been more reliable (up to 80g miles so far) than my Honda, or any other car I know of for that matter.

I seriously hope everyone has good experience with the mechanical issues and that the cars are reliable, because they are incredibly fun to drive.

I tried calling around and looking at inventories on line, but alas, I could not find the windevil blue. Well I found it, but these DEALERS put it on their inventory just to tell you that it belongs to someone else when you call. One DEALER told me she could get me a deal if I ordered through her. Only $2500 over MSRP. This gal was in Indio. Not exactly the meca of the auto universe. Enough allready with that.

So, I am in the system now, and waiting. Windevil GT Auto with parchment leather. Not too fancy, but not too many gizmos to slow down the build either (auto?). Anyway, $26,900 would make it one of the cheaper GTs in San Diego I would think.

Now if someone could just build me a time machine. :p

I hear your pain...walked into a dealer here in San Jose, was told 4 months for a GT, and then quoted about $7K over MSRP. Walked out...ended up being called the next day by a sister dealership who had an available GT in stock. Turns out a party had ordered it, and backed out after they didn't get what they thought was a satisfactory trade-in price. Tore up the 101 to the dealership in rush hour traffic, got there just as someone else had asked to drive it. Got in, liked the car, kept the keys to it while I negotiated (hey--car dealers keep your keys while they 'asses' your trade in and negotiate. why can't buyer do the same). Got a white GT with Ricaro leather, shaker 500 and spoiler delete at MSRP, and received higher than KBB on trade-in. walked out 2 hours later a happy man...

there is a red on red leather GT at a dealership in sunnyvale that has been there for about 3 weeks. no offense to anyone who has the red leather, but I really don't like it...looks like a bad 'Pimp My Ride' (as if there is a good one...)
