Where have all the GT's gone

I searched 28 of the local (Charlotte NC) dealerships and only 2 have GT's. WOW! When I got mine (Nov. 22) there was 4 or 5 that had GT's. The dealer (Dale Jarret Ford) where I purchased mine had 5 diff. colored GT's. As of today (Dec. 17) he has ONE black one left. He does have 19 V-6's (3 of which are the elusive MANUAL V-6 Premium's)

I had some bad thoughts because I had paid sticker and a lot of guys were paying 500 under....but then again, I got my car the way I wanted and have had it for 4 weeks now.

Also....I have seen on other forums (don't know if it's BS) that the "my color" option is on hold until after Jan 05....Anyone know ?

Harrelson Ford and the Month Old GT's....

That cant be right. I drove passed Harrelson Ford yesterday and they had 2 GT's (and like 8 V6's).

Yep...that's the same 2 white GT's they have had since mid-november. (I test drove both on Saturday, Nov 20th...Apollo (?) Brown was the salesman).

as best as I can remember

The auto is White premium GT with parchment leather, IUP, shaker 500

The manual is White premium GT with parchment leather, Shaker 500 (no IUP or anything else except the leather).

When I was there they had lot's of people looking at them but would NOT put on the sticker price they kept saying they hadn't printed them yet (?) but they quoted me $34,000 for the Auto and $32,000 for the manual...only after you had filled out the credit ap did they tell me...I left for another dealer then.
:nonono:

If you are from this area, doesn't it surprise you that Town and Country have had NO GT's ???? I have looked since they got the first 3 V-6 models....Tony Scapisco said they have only got a commitment for 2 by Feb 06. I think he is full of crap.
:bs:

My gut tells me that Town and Country (and Earl Tindoll in Gastonia) bought a load of 2004 (they have like 20!!) and expected to sell them when the 05's ran short. SURPRISE! Not only are the 04's not moving but the most people are trying to get their hands on the GT's and not the V-6. I know the V-6 accounts for 60-70 percent of all sales...but right now the "enthusiasts" are the one's shopping and they want the HONKING' V8's!! When I stopped at Earl Tindoll I had barely got out of the car before the salesman was asking what I wanted to look at. When I told him I wanted to see the 05's he sadly shook his head and said "You don't want a first year car...not with a family..I can get you a great deal on a 2004" Which they had 2 rows of WITH NO DISCOUNTS off MSRP. The deal was low percent financing. They also have 5 2004 Saleens but he told me that they are not coming off the sticker on them either...I turned right around and put the wife and 4 kids back in the car....hahahahah....Sale lost! (note: This is typical of my experience at this dealer...I have bought Fords 3 times and every time the attitude of the salesman / manager have driven me to another dealer.)

Since this area has LOT'S of ford dealers I was surprised by how few GT's. Dale Jarret does have the V-6 manual tranny cars...which is surprising from what we hear on how hard they are to find...

PS....I start in Concord/Kannapolis and finished in Gafney, SC. before I found my GT. Including physical and internet searches it was like 26-28 dealers I had looked through.

Jay was your 05 one of the first ones on the lot? With dark charcoal leather interior? If so I got to go for a ride in it. Nice car :D
edit: nm I see its an auto. Good thing because the one I rode in had the clutch burnt and the hell beat out of it multiple times

Hmm...when I got mine it was the only Legend Lime one he had...it's a 5 speed...Hey! so you're the guy who burned out my clutch!!
:rlaugh:

It's got everything but automatic...I live in Gastonia / Bessemer City...

Did you make it the Canon Village car show in Kannapolis ? Four 05's made it, including mine.....it's the 1st Saturday of every month from 3pm until...

Hi all long time reader first post.

Dont feel to bad about paying sticker here in San Diego CA if you can find a GT they want between $5000-$7000 over MSRP. :bang:

Lucky for me my work gets me fleet discount through Perry Ford of Poway.
My 05 was ordered last week GT premium Min. Grey/ dark charcoal IUP and
spoiler delete w/bullit wheels.

peace. :flag:

Almost forgot 5 spd manual!

IUP, huh? When are you expected to get it(with all the delays for the IUP)? Did they tell you dont call us, we'll call you?

Just to let you guys know... the GTs are hiding here in Austin too.

When I got mine in mid-Nov there were a bunch listed in the inventories around town. Now there are NONE. And a boatload of V6s!

That's ok with me...I have no problem being the only silver 05 GT in the capital of TX!

And with 1400 miles so far I have crossed paths with only one 05 GT. (Red)

I feel guilty being the only guy having this much fun. :D

I purchased mine via fleet also!
Paid exactly sticker for it ($28,945). Apparently someone on this board test drove mine (and burned the clutch! hahaha)....But they delivered it to my place of business.

The ford online inventory listings are wrong. The dealer I ordered my car from had a black V6 and a green GT. When I got home I was surfing online and did an inventory search, and it said they just had one grey V6.

I checked over the weekend and it still listed the grey V6, but when I drove by the lot the GT was still there.

Which was nice cuz I parked across the street and oggled it for a few minutes. This wait till Feb/March is going to get rough.

Funny you should say that. The only way I got ahold of my GT was due to the wacky forddirect.com inventory search. I found my car in a local inventory before the dealership knew it existed. They first told me that they had no idea what I was talking about... then 2 days later called and said... "Hey, that silver GT just showed up" :hail2:

They told me it was a glitch... I say it was destiny. :nice:

I was told end of Feb. begining of march.

supposedly dealers can order a limited amount of GT w/ IUP. at least this is what i was told. Im keeping my fingers crossed. I was quoted 27,450 for my GT. w/ fleet discount. pretty close to msrp. at leat its not the 34K a friend of mine paid for a legend lime cloth int. auto gt from El Cajon ford. Ouch!

peace :flag:

:spot: me walking away from dealer charging $5000 over msrp

found a GT here in the bay area, CA...actually, walked away from a dealer who wanted to charge $6K over MSRP. was called the next day by a dealer who had a customer who ordered a GT walk away due to a trade-in value issue...their loss was my gain, at MSRP

Well my California brothers, I am in the Sacramento Valley, there are about 8 Ford Dealers here. they are marking up the sticker from $3,000.00 all the way up to $10,000.00, one guy at the dealer in roseville, ca out right told me if I wanted his GT on the lot, I WILL pay the $7,000.00 in mark up (oh did I mention they have three Gts on the lot). I laughed cuz the only reason I was there was to show the wife the GT, cuz they are the cloest dealer to me. I told him of Harolds in Sacramento, who is selling there cars MSRP, or course he accussed me of lying, so I told him to call with me sitting there. He did, and they told him ( he didnt say he was from a different dealer ), it will be the order price of the car you build, but they did inform him that they cant keep any on the lot, so if he did want one, it was best to order.( We were on speaker phone). After talking with them he was real interested in what I was looking to pay for a GT, HMMM, wonder why. Anyways, if anyone is interested in seeing whats around here on Ford direct, use the zip code 95819, and a they will all come up. Lots of V6s and a few good GTs... :flag:
