Anyone else w/ ripped hurst shifter boot???

I purchased the Hurst (Part no. 538 0036) chrome stick, white ball, and boot package around August this year. Shortly after I put it on I noticed a tear in one of the creases. And just yesterday it ripped out on top where it is formed into a rectangle to meet with the stick. I am Pissed!!!! I know this is a common thing with these b/c I saw one at NMRA Joilet in a car and it was ripped the same. I am going to call or email the company but probley nothing will come out of it, but I am still going to do it.

If anyone else has this item and has simmilar results, please share them and confirm that I am not the only one that is upset with the POOR quality of this item. This is not something that I would expect from Hurst/Mr. Gasket Company.

I have the hurst pro billet shifter and the stock boot...the boot actually got caught on one of the bolts on the handle inside and ripped a very small hole it the boot...no big deal but it kinda pissed me off...

I have the same kit as u, mine was good for about 2 years then the snaps on the black plate (bezel) that hold it down broke so i had to drill holes and bolt it back down. Then a year later the white ball broke right off the top (the stick broke) so i had to buy a new one of those for $57, then a year after that my boot started to rip just like yours. But hey i've had it for 4 years now and i love that shifter more than anything on my car. It makes it go and I beat the balls out of it. So I dont think like 100 bucks is too bad to spend fixing ur shifter over 4 years. Especially when its a shifter that I hardly ever miss a shift on.

This is slightly off topic, but is anyone using the hurst stick & boot with another short shifter mechanism, or know if it is possible?

I like the look of the Hurst but have heard it's shift feel isn't the best. I'm wondering if I could use the Hurst stick & boot on a Pro 5.0 or Tri-Ax mechanism.

Yes Kerpal you can use the Hurst shifter stick kit on other shifters. I have mine running to a Pro 5.0 that shifts just as sweet as can be. The only thing that was slightly off was the stock bolts were too long so I had to shim them with washers, but it was no big deal.
