Magnaflow needs YOUR input- V6 exhaust system pictures- single or dual?

Hey guys,
Well we are trying to build something for the V6 guys and are trying to figure out how to do it-

We had a single exhaust built, and decided with only the one side it looked a little too much like import exhaust-

so we built this-

the single exhaust cut is giving us a challenge here-

Most of us are Mustang guys here and we just like seeing two pipes-

any ideas? feedback? input?

Thanks!! :flag: :flag:

THIS IS NOT THE FINAL PRODUCTION PIECE-

Here is your chance- tell us how to build it! :flag:

Is there any way to make the exhaust be wider tubing? Not just the tips being wide, but wide the whole way up to the mufflers. Like the 99-04 Magnapacks/flows. The tip is like 3.5" wide and 14" long or whatever so you can't see when it shrinks to a teeny pipe like you can in the above pics.

I don't mean make a huge exhaust for a v6, but is there no way to keep the piping large and hide the part where it shrinks?

I'vr got a GT and your Magnaflows are going on it tomorrow so here is my unbiased opinion - keep in mind that I am not a V6 hater.

I think it looks nice (the rolled tips keep it from looking like rice). The one thing that bothers me is the cutout only being on one side. I know it is not in the Magnaflow realm to swap out bumber covers but I think that an upgrade to the GT bumper would go miles for the look and feel of the new exhaust. Maybe you could sell a package that includes the dual "arcs" out back so that the kit looks just right.

Actually the nice thing is that the X pipe and catback will also bolt right up to the V6 Mustang- but they will need to get the X pipe-

The hangers/exhaust manifold size and locations are exactly the same-

so a V6 owner could buy a GT rear bumper, the X pipe and catback and it would work-

Lets get some more reviews-

Help us out!!

That Cut out in a sense really isn't all that noteable. However it makes the right pipe apear as if it is hanging lower then the left due to the cut out. Just a thought, would if be possible to try a turn down system where you don't even see the exhaust? One tail pipe would definitly give it that import look, however no noticable tailpipes might solve the problem.

I am with Mach428 on this one, a 3" dump tip where the exhaust is not really that noticeable from the rear of the car is what it needs. It will not look like an import and it will add to the muscle car sound

One thing I've noticed about V6 Mustangs owners who modify their exhaust: the ricier the better. How many 6 cyl mustangs have you seen with dual tips rubbing the bottom of the stock bumper? Or even worse, is when they get a fart muffler and add a 6" tip. They LOVE it!
Magnaflow, go ahead and make it look as import as you want. The teens will buy.

I'd be more likely to buy the dual exhaust, especially if it sounded better (lower, more rumbly), and if it might add hp. But it would look odd to me with only one cut-out side. There's got to be a way of getting that GT bumper. But would the cost be too much to make it worth it, rather than just getting a GT? Would it add more hp?

Personally, I'd be happy with a single performance muffler with a tasteful rolled-edge chrome tip. Something that would look classy and give it a slightly throatier sound without being obnoxious.

For those who want the dual exhaust look, though, and can't see spending hundreds of dollars to buy, paint and install a GT bumper, an inexpensive solution would be a simple urethane "lip" that could be applied to the bottom of the rear bumper and would cover the cutout, making it straight all the way across. The exhaust pipe tips would then be below the bumper, (as they already are in your picture), and look just fine.
I'm sure you could find a company to make such a lip, which you could offer as an option with your system, maybe even already painted.

I think some of you know more than I do about putting dual exhausts on a V6. Could we start at the beginning and address things who sells and installs a dual system on your V6 (new and old models) and like what the effect on the engine management system is, how can the ECU be programmed to take advantage of the increased flow. More over, none of this 'cat-back' stuff which I always thought was cosmetic. Don't you need something from the engine block back and another cat-con or am I mistaken?

I know a lot of you have discussed this but it's new to me.

can you included some kind of guide with the twin pipes showing were to cut the rear bumper on the other sided

ps i have driven the gt stick, when i get a chance to drive a 5spd stick v6 i will deside if i buy a gt or v6 if i buy a v6 i will be putting a due exhaust on it and making it look good and clean is needed :flag:

if a v6 owner wants dual exhaust, they can just buy the gt catback.

i want to see pics of a single exhaust. you say it looks too much like import exhaust but that's just an opinion. at least show us what it looks like

By any chance, is the eleanor Kit going to have diffrent position for the exhaust. The reason i ask is because i am planning of getting the kit and if i am not mistaken i seen that the exhaust is going to be on the sides of the car.

did you guys think about turndowns or dumps to avoid the ricer look? I never (IMO of course) liked the pre-99 GTs with the non-cut out exhuast, and when I'm coming up on a stang I might want to race badging and placement of the exhaust tips is how I identify the car until I get beside it.... just a thought.... most 6's have an abvious note (if you can hear it above your own exhaust) but I think the turn downs would be a nice half way point (you could go dual or single)

In my opinion the dual exhaust looks way better than the single exhaust. It finishes the rear end of the car much better than the single exhaust. The mustang has always looked its best with dual exhaust and if you look at several v6 cars with exhuast on the road today you will notice that they all have dual exhaust. I have dual on my v6 and i wouldnt consider your product if it were to have only a single option.

You'd still notice the single cutout with dumps. Dumps are cool, though--but maybe too old school for the type of person who is buying a new V6. Most guys with 60s Muscle cars don't go with dumps, even when they are era-correct for their car. Anyway I'd stick with the single exhaust on the V6 car if you're not swapping bumpers. And if you're swapping bumpers, why not just get a GT?
