Tires

Ive been looking for some tires for my mustang for awhile, I want a biggest and widest tire i can fit under the rear wheel well, with out rubing. I got 225/50/15s on there on 10 holes. They look like dounuts on back. got about 4" of clearance aroudn the edges. I wanted to get some 245/50s but no body can get them in 50/15s. I was thinking about ording 245/60/15 BFG radail t/as. Do you guys think they would be to big? Ive looked at this and my 225/50s are 23.9" tall and the 245/60s are 26.4 or something. I quess i could go measure and answer my own qestion. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

What size tires are you guys runing on your 10 holes? 3 tires that are 225/50s and 1 225/60 throw a car off pretty good. So i need new tires bad. plus the rears are bald for some reason. I still might have a chance to buy some pony wheels. Seems like theres alot more tire options for the 16" wheel these days. Thanks James

i think a 245 is gonna be a little wide on a 7" rim. I have BFG 235/60/15's on my turbines and they look great! No sidewall bulge and they fill the wheel wells nicely.

Do you have any pics. I got 10 holes think the 235s would fit good? I looked it up on sams club they are $69 apiece will 245s are 71... On that tire size calculator they are the same width as my 225/50s but 2" tall. Just what i wanted. I think ill go with 235/60/15s on the rear. Thanks James

Sizes do vary for each manufacturer. The 225 is the width in mm. So 245 should be 2 cm wider. If its a 225/50, the sidewall is 50% of the tread width (225mm) That calc is screwed up, or they are measuring them on the rim.

You should be OK with the 235, dont go any wider unless you get wider rims.

Ok, then the same thing will apply to a 16" rim correct? I have 245/50/16's on my Ponys and they fit with no problem. Why wouldnt a 245/50/15 fit on a 10 hole??

I plan on ditching my Ponys in favor of the more sedate look of 10 holes.

Are turbines wider than 10 holes? Ill probly order the 235s.. Im going to U-wrench it tommarow. hopefully i can find some wheels for it. Ponys would be nice but some more 10 holes would be good for spares. Tire sizes are really confusing to me. What ever happend to tire sizes like 33x12.5x15... HeightXwidthXwheel size

Mickey Thompson still has some in inches.

Ponies are 7" as well as 10 holes.

I have 235/60's on my 15" draglites on my GT and here's a crappy picture of what they look like:

I don't think I'd do 245/60's, but that's just me...that's nearly a full inch higher than my 235/50's.

I think I'll get the 235/60s. Dont really want to rub any. The back of my car sits down way to low to me with them little tires. TheUser, if i rember your car is lowerd 2" in the rear isnt it, have any problems with rubbing? Only lowering the rear of the car "launching affect". Im gonna go to U-wrench-it today. I dought ill find any wheels, but got ot get some interioir parts. After that ill go to Sams club and order them tires. Thanks James

I cant afford to get bigger wheels right now and need tires to pass inspection. Working at pizza hut trying to pay for this mustang and Xmas dont work....

Bighoss: I got 1 225/60/15 on the front of my car and it doesnt rub any. gets close but doesnt rub. The the other 3 tires are 225/50/15s and they look like dounut spares expect wide.... James

Yup, I really cant afford a set of bling, bling at the moment so I wanted to go the cheap and still look decent route.

Im thinking a 225/60 in the front and a 245/50 in the rear. The tire height should remain close that way.

i ran a set of 255-60-15 on 10 holes on my 91 LX5.0 only rubed on very hard corners if i hit a bump in the corner they state to run them on a rim 6.5-10 they are 10.2 wide at the sidewall and 8.2 at the tread and they are 27in tall all these are on a 7.5 rim hope this helps smokey905.0
