GT driving lights with a twist...

I wanted to add GT driving lights to my V6, but wanted to do something different than just add the OEM units in the usual spots in the bumper.

I decided to try using round aftermarket lights in the center grille opening, kind of like the GT option lights on '65-'68 Mustangs. The grille-delete kit made it easier to do cleanly.

What do you all think? Keep it or ditch it?

Just my honest opinion, ditch it for smaller lights. I'm sure a ricer would buy those off you. Those look like you're either deer hunting or rally racing. CDC has a really nice fog/driving light combo if you wanna invest in something like that.

Me though, I'm a FIRM believer in "to each their own"!! If you like it man, go with it, you don't do stuff for other people. I will say it is a nice lookin' sixer.

STANGS FOR LIFE!!

I thought about using smaller lights or even projectors, but I didn't think it would look right.

These are actually 4" lights- much smaller than the driving lights on the Super Stallion and the Eleanors. I thought about doing that too, but it would have meant cutting up my bumper cover to make room, and I wanted the mod to be reversible.

I had a guy in a parking lot yesterday ask me if it was an '05! Uhh, yeah. Maybe if you're on mushrooms!

First off, to each his own, it's been said a few times, and I also believe in it heavily. Now, i think they look alright, but I can't quite tell yet. Can you get a pic directly in front of the car, no angles? Seeing it head on may give a different look. But I really like the creativity you had to pull this off, great job! :nice:

Pretty creative. :nice:
Your photos got me thinking about other possible combinations.
Wouldn't it look cool if some one put a long-bulb-type light inside the non-functional hood scoop so it looks like a big headlight?
I wouldn't mind light coming out of it.
It could be the beer talking though. :notnice:

I wonder how they'd look if they were both moved to the center of the grille, sort of like the original Shelbys. I dunno. I'm glad you tried it out, though. I've wondered myself how that would look.

I thought about that too, but I think that would only look good with the original full-size lights like on the Shelby (besides having to lose the horse and being mistaken for a motorcycle! ).

Maybe I'll drive it like this for a few months, then get a spare bumper cover and try the Shelby thing. I think it would also look good, although it would look a lot more like a WRC car then!

If you decide to cut up the bumper cover, I say use the same lights and go for the Aussie Cobra look.

You know, I hate it when people say, "It's your car, do with it what you want." C'mon we need open criticism. We don't just create the car for ourselves, we create the car for everyone. Say what you mean people, without saying "It's your car." Now in my opinion, I think the lights in the grill break up the lines of the car, and make it look bad.

What I really like about what you've done, is that I've never seen anyone else try it, and look as clean as you did. You didn't get those retarded blue lights, you didnt get the gay looking ovals, you did it right. I give you mad props on creativity and originality.

Kinda reminds me of the 05 GT's. Which remind me of the old Mustangs. But IMO, it only looks good when the body supports it. The look of the late 90's stangs dont support large round fogs in the grill.

I think the lights look hot. They add something to the front that hasn't been done before. I like it. That being said, I've never been a fan of the grill-delete. It would look WAY better if you could find a way to cleanly cut the grill to have those fit in. Now THAT'D look good. :D
