Gas tank won't take gas, CD player won't play CD's...etc...

Love the ride, smooth accel, at high-rev's it's like a rocket! Trouble is, just as I'm getting into it, the Shaker 500 will spit out a perfectly fine CD. Ok, reload or move to next CD and we're off again. Then I try to refuel (see "high-rev's" comment) and after shoe-horning $25 of gas into the tank in 15 minutes - seriously - I'm done for the day.

I got the car for the fun of the ride and in the main, it IS fun. But the nagging problems, particularly enhanced by the dealers' "we got your money, now get lost" attitude is quickly wearing thin.

Oh, and no key for my locking lug. It's on order. Just glad I tried to trade up my rims before I got a flat (more dealer shoulder shrugging)!

Gas tank thing seems to be a common problem. Not sure Ford has coughed up a solution yet but they seem to be aware of it. I assume it's some kind of venting problem. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Celticstanger-

I have had my '05 GT for almost 3 weeks - no problems at all with filling up at the gas station - except for attention the pony draws :D

- no problems at all with the Shaker 1000 , I put some of my MP3 CD's that were of the cheap generic brand and the system played them fine. My car was built on a Monday too! So far so good.

I have the shaker 500 stereo in my 05 GT.
It has skipped more than a few times... for no apparent reason. Loading CD's is also a chore. My next step is to start making my own Cd's in MP3 format.... I can only imagine things getting worse.

As for gas... I'm only on my 3rd tank... and last time I filled up, the pump kicked off, I squeezed it a couple more times to be sure... paid and drove off with 3/4 of a tank of gas!!!!

Guess I'll have to pay more attention to the number of gallons going in.

ford is working on the gas tank problem fix now.TB will be out in a month or two.Try keeping nozzle out of filler about half way and fill it slower than full speed for now .Take that shaker system to dealer for a new one.If ya havent done it,look under spare tire for wheel key, mine was hidden under tire in a small plastic bag. :nice:

fule fill up problem

got hit by the fuel fill up gremlin for the first time last night after about 8 fill ups. yes 8, I've got 2025 miles on the car now. If you take the handle and turn it straight up it will take the fuel. be careful though you will have to get very close to the paint. funny thing was I hit the reset button and the DIC showed that the gas cap was closed and it wasn't on the car. It could be a sensor problem.

You've filled up your car 80 times at 2025 miles? That means you must fill up every 25 miles. I usually wait until my fuel gauge is past the 1/4 tank mark before I even think of filling up. You must have a lot of time on your hands.

Make that about 8 times............ Sorry I went to a public skool......

Same problem with fuel here in England - waiting for them to publish a fix, but it is fun in the stations, geting all the attention it deserves. Stuck in traffic around London yesterday, several vehicles told me how much they enjoyed being in a traffic jam with something so nice to look at - and they were taking pics of it with their mobile phones! Guess that is why they call special vehicles "poser" cars over here!

and thats why I got a late model 04 instead of an 05, owning a 99 cougar when they first came out taught me never to buy a new ford model again as they are usually fullllllll of problems. Hopefully this gas/cd thing isn't a major issue.

pretty small problems considering how much better the new stang is in overall quality, ride, performance and looks.

yeah ive been having that problem too, the gas wont go in properly in some stations also my radio wasnt working today for a while, i shut the car off turned it back on and it worked.also the clips on the back of the seats that adjust the seat forward and backward fall out really easily and my driver seat kinda squeekes as of today which is annoying.

another thing is that the transmission has some flaws on the automatic v6. while changing gears the gears change really slow and you have to wait a second before accellerating or the car will jump, like the explorers have been having.

All you have to do is put the nozzle in and then turn it upside down. It will fill up fine. If you do it the normal way it will keep shutting off.

My Shaker 500 doesn't read my MP3 CD's either. Just says disc error and spits them out. I don't really care though since I am replacing the system.

wow, i dont understand...

Did they NOT test these cars out for a million miles?

This is making no sense. Thank GOD I strayed away from purchasing one this year, if things improve, then I will definantly fill in the order for the 06 model...

Shame the gas problem is so widespread. Further to that, and more seriously, my pony has started to get squirrelly with hard accel/breaking - sometimes when I'm breaking, the stearing-wheel pulls hard, usually to the right, sometimes left. Scary. I'll be mentioning it at my weekly dealer visit. Anyone else experiencing this? I had an 03 GT and it felt glued to the road.
