Bye Bye State Farm Insurance

I got in an accident with another state farm "member". Well that was all wrong. Not only did they fix my car they funked it up. I can count the things that were not fixed and replaced with used parts on both my hands. I tried to get the body shop to fix them but they basically told me it was my fault.

I had an autometer oil pressure gauge and it stopped working, but they called the sender corroded. They didn't even try to fix it. I called autometer and got a new one. For free.

Second, somone broke my parking brake cable but because it was rusty, it was my fault. Well it wasn't broke before the wreck.

The steering rack they put on my car was used and creeks now. They don't care. I'm just complaining. These are from the PREFERRED body shop.

I needed a rental car, because they had my car for 36 days. they gave me $20 a day. How does that compare. I ended up spending over $200 on rental expenses not covered. Insurance told me I was lucky I got a rental, since I had no rental coverage. I didn't cause the wreck, the other person did.

They fixed a 95 GT vert vice totalling it and the bill was over $7000. I was told the car was worth 8900. I'd like to get 8900 for my 95 GT. I just wish they would have totaled it and I could get a big check since now I have a Cobra and don't need the GT. October/November sucked. I just kept getting screwed. Me bum still hurts!!!!

Screw SF insurance. But imo they all suck.

4dStang - told ya :D

When really heavy hail hit my neighborhood, every house in both directions from mine for over 30 houses got new roofs. About 80% of the subdivision did, but State Farm owners took it in the shorts including me. They said the holes in my shingles were caused by "birds and squirrels". When I asked how she knew that (she was a really arrogant local adjustor) she said "experience". Come to find out that all the State Farm insured who GOT new roofs were adjusted by out-of-town adjustors. Complained to the State Insurance Board with all kinds of documentation on the whole neighborhood and nothin got done.

Im just waiting till I turn 21 and I will probably be dropping state farm as well. So 2 months to go! They gave me the best price out of all those companies I have tried but since my insurance should go down when im 21 i'm going to check some other companies out.

My dad just recently moved backed to New Jersey and he had been with state farm for 20+ years(in NJ, NC and PA), he had all his insurance policies through them(house, cars, etc) and they decided they weren't going to allow him to switch his insurance to state farm in NJ because they were pulling out of NJ. What a crock of BS. Throw away customers that have been with you for the longest time. So basically he said **** you and dropped all his insurance with them(3 houses, etc). They haven't screwed me but I really don't want to take a chance...

State Farm had too much market share in a lot of places, so when a natural disaster hits, they loose big time. Never mind that they collected those premiums without payouts for so long - that money is long gone to executives and stock holders. So, they will stick it up your @ss and break it off without a second thought.

So easy to get a mob going on Internet boards. Post your experience and what happened as some of you have and you can add value to a disucssion. Put stuff up like "State Farm will hose you every chance they can", doesn't do crap and just makes you look like an uneducated 15 year-old (tmoss...you should know better).

I've been with State Farm for almost 10 years...have all my cars, house, life insurance, etc...with them. Insurance is a cut-throat tough industry, nobody is going to find the end-all company that is Mr. Good guy. Do your rate shopping, find a good agent, know your policies, and if you keep your nose clean...you'll be ok.

I had my car broken into a few years ago and had a lot of damage done to my door, lock, and losses on the interior. Within SIX days I had a check in my hand covering all the repair costs and reimbursement for my loss.

The preminums may be a little more in my opinion than some other companies, but it's worth it to me if a claim ever has to be filed and they perform like they did before.

I was with them for over 20years with all my insurance, NO claims on the house and one accident and I got stuck in the rear two times - once on the car and once on the house to the tune of over $20,000 in uncompensated losses. And that happened to over 40 people in my subdivision - Don't preach to me sonny........

Yeah, you stay with them, you'll get yours too eventually.

State Farm continues to screw me over and unfortunatley I haven't had the time to switch companies. See it's really messed up what they did to me. I reconstructed a camaro a few years back and got it insured. I automatically assumed they knew it was reconstructed because of the title it had. So 3 years pass and I total the car. The insurance agent or whomever offered me a value for the car in which I would of taken. But when I went into their office they saw the title and their offer changed. They cut the value in half. I was furious because basically from what they've told me I've paid insurance for 3 years for a car that was valued more than what it really was. If you guys know what I'm talking about. It seems to me that they should owe me money because I paid them over 9k in 3 years for a car that was barely worth anything. I talked to a lot of people trying to fight it and they basically told me I couldn't do anything about it. Why pay all that money and full coverage for a car that isn't worth jack? I wasted a lot of freaking money. Not only that, when they gave me the price for my car originally they lied to me and said that they saw 3 camaros the same year at certain dealerships for the price they offered me. I got them up, but I also checked all the dealerships with the cars they said they saw. Well it turns out they lied to me and each dealership told me they haven't had a car like that for sale in years. When I confronted them about it they gave me some crap like "oh what we meant was this is the price they would've sold them for if they had one" but thats 2 different things they told me. I think that is a bunch of bull****. I hate insurance companies. And what makes me even more mad, when the time comes to give you the money for your claim it takes so long and they stall you. But hey, if you dont' have the money for them your in big trouble. It's such a scam.

WoW...... I pay $624 year full coverage(fire thift ect.) I have nationwide but I have them for my home to ( two car discount) the funny thing is I pay more for the 95 mustang then I do for a 2004 jeep liberty just cuz the mustang has gt on it. Now lets tell it how it is, if something happens to your car every ins place will do everything in there power to not pay out or fix you car with alot of filler.

Actually there is. USAA, but you have to be in the Military to become a member. If something goes wrong, they fix it, really. After paying out all the claims for the year, the surplus is divided up according to the cost of the members premiums, and returned to the members.
There are tons of military personel in Florida, and even after all the hurricanes this year, I still got close to $200 back. It is a wonderful feeling to not have to worry about insurance anymore.

I had Farmers when I was 16-17. I was paying $225 a month for liability only on an 84 300ZX. Now I'm 23, and pay a lot less than that for full coverage on the Stang, a 99 Infiniti I30, and liability on a 71 F-100. I will say this though. An old lady turned into the far lane, and clipped the rear of my 300ZX as I was going through an intersection. I was 16, and driving a sportscar, so despite the clear markings from where my rear tires were pushed onto the center median, the police officer would not give the lady a ticket due to no witnesses. Then she tried to report it to my insurance as my fault. My agent called me, and asked what happened. He then said not to worry about it, and if I got sued, just let them know, and they would represent me in court (I wouldn't even have to go). I never heard anything else about it. That's pretty cool in my book.

i had state farm previously... never liked them since they had no problems with used parts being put on my 91 lx and a slew of other issues. finally dropped them for USAA. Now USAA has upped my rates, but that is due to some new assesment that michigan's crappy no fault insurance causes. What i dont like about usaa is they wont allow me to put just storage insurance on the bullitt in the winter due to me still oweing on it. :bang:

insurance companies suck... they are not going to lose their profit margin :nonono:

Insurance just sucks period, and like to admit it or not, the consumers are every bit as much of the problem as the companies theirselves. My Wife works for USAA as an Agent, and my sister as a claims adjuster. You would not believe some of the BS people put in for on insurance, and are often awarded due to state/fed laws. During Hurricane Season down here, there were members that would claim the max food loss in fridge, 500 dollars, then a week later when the next storm came through, claim max food loss again, even though they were never restored power in that week. Another good example was an individual that had a junker jacked up on the side of the road, with no wheels, no engine, had not been run in months. One of USAA's members swerves off the road and knocks it off its blocks, and the guy is demanding a fully functional rental until his junker is fixed. LOL My sister ended up calling down to USAA junkyard, and had a vehicle towed and put back up on blocks in the same position as his until his got repaired.

Bottom line is Americans have very little integrity when it comes to insurance, and the companies have very little integrity when it comes to taking care of customers. Kinda like taxes, hate them but dont have a choice.
