Is buying a used clutch okay?

i bought a used clutch. a centerforce dual friction. mind you it was brand new guy rebuilt his stang err engine. drove 15 kms and totalled his car. i got that clutch for 200 buck canadian retails here for 450. it just started to slip last month in 4th and 5th. it lasted 3 years in my 351W. even held nicely when i ran 100hp of juice on my slicks for those 3 years at the track.

unless the pedigree of it is known very well, im with Speed Demon on that one. i would rather pay a bit more and know what i got.

good luck.

NO NO NO I would only buy a new clutch. That's like buying used spark plugs, it's just not worth it. There are some things you can buy used and they are fine, hell i'v done it on my other cars, but parts that are where items, never.

alright, i'll take your guys advice and not get it. Do you think a stock clutch from Oreilys would work good? I don't drop the clutch, or power shift or anything like that. I don't even do that when I am at the dragstrip. The main reason I wanted to do a clutch was because I needed to replace the rear main, and also because the throwout bearing is chirping. I was racing a guy last night who had the trickflow package (350 RWHP) and he was using the stock clutch. I don't know, what do you guys think?
