Thoughts on 275-40-17 Nitto 555R's

245s don't look the best on my 9" wide rims. I thought I would go with the 275s when these were done, but to be honest, I think I'm done with nittos 17s. My Essenzas street tires stick 100% better at the track. :nonono:

Yeah you gotta keep em around 22 psi for city use. Go with the 275's. The DR's run very narrow. When I had the tires off, my 275 dr's were only the slightest bit wider than the regular 255's I had up front. I'm going with 315's any day now, I wish they made em even wider. On a side note...Anyone know if the BFG's DR has a wider width than the comprably sized Nitto DR?

Like i told ya man... 275x40 on your 17x9's.. perfect tire.

Now if you had an 8" wheel, ide recomend a 245x45

Or a 10.5" wheel, ide recomend a 315
Youre right about the "perfect", however in the numerous posts on here Ive read about tires...275's will work on an 8" (I had them) especially if theyre Nittos, and the 315's will "work" on a 9", again esp if theyre Nittos.

The combos you listed Mike ARE indeed the "ideal" matches, and are overall best for safety/handling.

yea, like RC mentioned.. the 275 will fit on an 8" wheel.. It really depends on the brand used... Nittos tend to run alitle more narrow, therefor they dont seem to buldge as much as another brand might, like say.. Kumho or somthing cheap..

My buddy runs 275x40x17 Nitto DR's on his stock 17x8" Bullet wheels and the buldge isnt bad at all, he says they hook like a mofo!

I have also seen 275/40/17 falkens on a 8'' rim it looked and handled well on a supercharged gt, just remember not to over inflate you tires!

Here is my Sumotomo new on the stock 8"...Judge for yourself.. And like mentioned, the Nitto's run smaller (dont ask me why...275 should mean "275" no matter what company  )

Anyway, my car too was supercharged and lowered. 2 years later, those tires are STILL on my rear end :rlaugh: and still have tread left.
