Someone on my local board just posted a dyno for his LS1. Here is what it dynoed and his mods.

In full street trim....Air filter....All belts....car made

343 rwhp
362 rwtq

1998 Formula A4 stock internals
The mods the car has

Pacesetter longtubes
3inch true duals with X pipe(Custom made by djnick)
Directflo lid
Paper airfilter
Jantzer ported throttle body
Underdrive pulley
Free mods: cut EGR tube, Removed bottom of airbox, Descreened MAF and a few other free mods I think help.

Those numbers were untuned...and thru and unlocked convertor....the AF ratio was ok I will be going back and tuning sometime soon I just needed baseline numbers.

:bang: Those pesky LS1s can put down some damn good numbers. Not to mention at the track he throws down a 150 wet shot into her.

There is no way to get that much power at the rear wheels with his mods listed.
Ls1's are very powerfull, and can put down some inpressive numbers. But there is no WAY he got 80 rwhp from his mods listed.
It says maybe a couple more "free" mods. He must be counting his ported heads, and ported manifold as free.

Except that LS1s are known to put down close to 300 at the wheels stock. By what you're saying they put down 260 stock? :bs: He didn't gain 80 rwhp, he gained maybe 50 tops.

Well let's see, 5.0 or 4.6 by today's standards in the mustang, and the LS1 in the F-bodies are what sized-displacement engines? Try bumping the new 300 horse 4.6 up to that size and let's see if they compare then.

s/cblack 5GT figure in that many guys with 302s making 1+ hp a cube are modded to hell. oh btw were is tampa palms

Yes, but the LSIs already have really good cams, heads, and intakes. We have to swap all that out because they are so restrictive. My car was making .91rwhp per cube, N/A, and I still have the tiny .444" lift cam. A simple swap of the cam would have easily put mine at 1+rwhp per cube. You just have to love those extra cubes :D , that is where GM has the advantage.

Tampa Palms is in the north part of Hillsborough County. It is north of Temple Terrace and south of the I275 and I75 split. The Bruce B. Downs area.

I thought when they switched to the LS1 engine they made it a 346  Powerful cars no doubt, I just wouldnt want one for myself after driving my friends 02 Z28. Ride quality and handling sucked.

You get a cookie(346) They are fast as hell but im with Zach. Handle like a minivan(not quite) and uncomfortable too. I hate how theres that bump in the floor on the passenger side and how you cant see the hood because of the 44 foot dash they have.

Exactly!!! There is NOTHING special about LS1s. Take 346ci add some good flowing heads, and great intake manifold, and a decent cam and hello power. I wonder how long it took the champs at chevy to figure that out.
