I purchased a set of 3:55 gears, out of a new Mach I, for my 04 GT. Now I am wondering if I will see enough gain to justify the install. I did not want to go to a 4:10, for fuel consumption concerns. What do you guys think? Ditch the install, cut my losses, or go ahead and install the 3:55's?

Thanks

4.10s. I don't see a point in going from 3.27s to 3.55s.

3.55s in your GT wouldnt do a whole lot, upgrading from a 3.27 rearend. 4.10s would put your car right in its powerband, and if you drive normally you'll only lose 1-2 mpg. Sell the 3.55s for whatever you can get and put that towards 4.10s. If you had a 94-98 GT, i'd say 3.55s all the way because the HP and torque peaks at lower rpms, but the newer GTs powerband is really above 4000. Just my 2 cents

if you can ditch 100 bucks two times (thats the cost of install around here) then go for it, at the least maybe it will get you chompin at the bit for 4:10s or 3:73s or whatever.

Despit what everybody says you will!!! feel the dirference going to 3:55s i know because i had them. Its not a big defference but its there. I switched to 3:73s because i had the chance to do it for free. And i wanted a little more. I was happy with the 3:55s though. ITs all how you drive. I am really happy with the 3:73s and i personally would'nt want to go any steeper.

:bs:

4.10s or 4.30s :spot:

Why do all of the 4.10 lovers think that 3.27s suck so bad?

My 1991 GT had 2.73 w/5-speed only option was 3.08. One of my LT1's had 3.23 and another 2.73.

I myself would rather have 3.55 or 3.73 in my GT.

IMO 4.10 suck and make a nice car feel like junk. I have raced a GT w/4.10's and was unimpressed.
