How did I win these races?

I have a stock 215hp 1994 GT with a 5 speed and beat both a 320hp Cadillac Northstar Deville and a 320hp Mitsubishi vr4 from rolling starts 30mph-90mph. Both times I started a car length behind and ended up a nose ahead. How is this possible?

You won most likley your car is just faster. The Caddy, yeah that Northstar engine is no joke. It's well made and makes great power, but you have to consider it is sitting in a heavy car. The VR4 3000GT once again sits in a heavy car, has not even near as much tq as you do and by the time it's high end HP comes into play the drag from the AWD kills that. AWD takes alot of power out.

And agian, there could have been something wrong with thier cars. Some of these cars are overrated, they might be fast for what they are but that doesn't make them real fast.

My friend has a VR4, and rolling, he will mop it up, but off the line, I'll take him on the quarter, the lag like hell off the line, that's with a 4500 dump on his part, and an auto on mine.

The stock gears probably helped you...in a shorter race, being able to hold in first and second gear will net you an advantage over someone who is in their upper gears. If you went for an all-out 1/4 mile, you'll probably see different results.

My 96 STS will teach you a lesson

Hello,

I actually go looking fot Mustangs GT's and have beat them more than they beat me. The Devilles have 275HP, my STS has 300. At the track I usually beat them in the quarter.

Hi Gus,

Maby a few stockers, but I gaurantee you this, a properly setup H/C/I 5.0 Foxbody could let you have two and the move starting in second gear and come flying past you be the half way point. Guess you just haven't run into the right Mustangs. So what does your caddy run in the 1/4?

did you sign up for this site just to talk crap about how you beat mustangs???

tell ya what bro......if i was near you, id run ya, and id run your car into the ground....id put the title of my car on it. you obviously only prey on stock stangs...come pick on us with h/c/i and other mods.......i guarantee ill hit the traps at least 1.5 seconds before you do.....ive ran an sts before at the track in bracket. he had a 2 second light on me and i still walked by him....

i cant stand it when poeple that dont own stangs come in here talking crap about how they beat us al the time

go give granny her car back

Hey gus, I got a 96 STS too, yea they suprise alot of people who have stock mustang, but don't hess with anything that has h/c/i or a 4v with a blower.Have you tried a mustang dry nitrous kit on your STS yet, I know the guys up at the caddy deal did this and the thing hauled azz.

hahaha, come on fellas, i am with jaidedeye here, if you are just going to talk trash, dont come. But feel free to stop by cali for a run, i got a stang that will chase you down in any aspect of driving. i got a pink slip to back it too.

90mustangGT, I don't got 1/4 mile times but my STS with a fresh royal purple oil change and a cleaning out the stock filter got me a 9.4 at like 70mph or somewere around there in the 1/8.

Like I said, two and the move starting in second gear. My reaction time (considering I can go as soon as I see him move, not by a light) will be very short, I'm launched in first about 1800rpm, I could probally launch in second and just slip the clutch some if it doesn't grab and spin, then I was only in first about a second or two anyways. Still would trap make the kill. I work on those cars sometimes (I try to get out of it) and they make some good power. A whole second faster at around 15mph faster within that period is quite a difference.

I agree, if this guy is out here to make a call out, CALL OUT, I am sure someone in his area will show him what's up. I can't, because I am rebuilding the motor and a bunch of other things, my car is gutted, but I am sure I could find a few people who will run em.

I remember when I first joined these forums some guy with a Supra made a call out. He made something like 820RWHP, saying he could beat any of us POS rustangs as he called it. Well, guys on here in his area were saying "bring it" and even others were willing to travel just to shut his mouth. Well, he for one reason or another "couldn't" show up at the track. Then he got made fun of until he said somethign that got him banned and the tread closed. Anyone remember that thread? His screen name was something wiht SupraTT in it.

Northstar Power

Hey folks,

I like Mustangs too, my Caddy is stock. With the exception of the CTS-V almost all cadillacs are stock becuase of the integrated computer systems that maintain the transmission/engine and other computer systems on the car. I have raced some mustangs in the quarter mile and have beat them and lost to them. The race is always close and I do respect the Mustangs. Occasionally I will be riding around with my wife and a GT will rev on me and I will give him a race. Sometimes I beat them and they give me a thumbs up and sometimes they give me the finger. The Northstar engine is very powerful and if I were to try a Nitrous set up, my 4,000 pound STS would be very fast in the 1/4 mile. Don't get me wrong, I know you can do crazy things to the Mustang for Power, but the argument of stock vs modified is insane. I do like the look on some guys face when the Caddy beats his Mustang, but it is all in fun because I know my car is Luxury with some decent power.

I'm not talking bull either because my mustang will roast your STS and so will most of the others on this site.Ya'll know that the STS up until just recently were all FWD?These car are pretty quike from a roll but of the line they just get killed.I'll try to find that time slip, that way I can show you what I mean.
