I'm sure its been asked- but I am trying my hardest to wait for the next special edition Mustang- i.e. Mach 1, Boss... instead of buying a run-of-the-mill GT. Not to say I don't love the GT- but in a few years there will be thousands around Chicago- does anyone have any information about whether Ford is putting out a special production- non-SVT though- for the 2006 model year????? Hopefully something big will be unveiled during the Auto Shows in Jan. and Feb. '05!!!

On a serious not I heard a rumor (or wishful thinking) about a mach a boss and a 350/500 gt. But they are not going to give you the good info and juicy tibits until the 05 gt craze dies off.

I tell you all what , you guys keep dreaming about SE versions and keep waiting , and I'll just keep enjoying my plain ol 05 GT and all the attension she gets. As far as I know the only confirmed info Ford has given is that there will be another SVT cobra, it will be an 07 released in 06.Thats it !! all else is rumor and speculation. I dont see them releaseing any SE model before then, why should they? How could they?, the SVT group will be busy working on that next car until then.

Besides who needs another SE model? I figure Ill enoy my plain 05 for now, when the Elenore body kits finally come out later in 05, I'll get one and make mine look more like the 68 Shelby's I love , add my white racing stripes and then my 05 will agian look unique and different. Once the warrenty is done , if I want more performance, and the high priced SE models are finally out, which I know will be 30 - 40+ way more than I can aford, I can always add some parts and make her as fast as I want.

Yeah spring editions are nothing to call home about. (just mesing with you I realized you meant special) If a Mach 1 came out or something comprable it may have a built 4v engine or something to make it a much better building platform out of the box.

There will be no 05 special edition, unless Ford wants to waste money. They spent so much money on the redesign of the base models there is no way, especially with all the hype, that they would bother putting out additional special models to compete with the GT and V6. I'm sure they have things in the works and since car design is a multiple year process, a BOSS/MACH1 was already planned out and set for a specific year to keep the hype of the new design going. You don't show all your cards at once. If the Cobra comes out in 06 it will keep the spot light on Ford. Due to that i bet at the earliest 07 will be the first special edition. The 99 was the previous gen redesign. The Bullitt wasn't produced till 2001. Car companies usually keep schedules to keep attention and keep sales going. If you offer a Cobra, people will go to see it and if they can't afford it, might look at the other cars Ford has to offer. Competition amoung your own cars is poor business, but drawing in the masses with special models every so often will keep them coming to the show rooms.

Exactly. I do not believe we will see a SE for at least '07, or '08 at the earliest!!! Ford is having a difficult time just getting issues corrected for '05MY. They do not need a SE to boost sales or increase interest in the mustang.

There's a reason Carol Shelby is back with Ford.

I only hope the new Shelby has the go to match the show.

Did you happen to see the Shelby prototype that was published in this month's "Mustang Monthly?" The picture was small and there weren't any details, but it looked like the best "tuner" Mustang I've seen yet for the '05. As for me I'll have to make do with a GT until Ford brings back the Cobra or Mach 1 at some undetermined date in the future.
Of course if something comes up sooner than later, you will find a brand new premium GT w/IUP on Ebay...Why should dealers make all the money off of people that are stupid enough to pay over MSRP?..... :rlaugh:
