Okay as the title says.

Im trying to plan out what I'm going to do with my car during the off season. I have a superchip left over from a previous Ford that I can have reprogramed.

Here was what I was planning, but is it enough ? What else do you guys recomend?

4.10's - 4.30's
Comp Cams XE270AH + Valve srings.

Is this enough to put to shame a WRX ?

Side note: After about a week of owning my car, I was driving on the highway and got rapped by a WRX 2 times in a row.

BTW I have a 5 speed :nice:

You should spanking them now......My guess is that the one you raced wasn’t stock It isn't very hard to turn up the wick on one of those things. That, or it was an STi….in which case you’re gonna need more than gears and cams to make him eat your lunch. They're run low-13's right off the showroom floor.

Im positive it wasent a STi as those spoilers give them away. Im gonna agree with you about him not being stock because he pulled up next to me and had a big grin on his face. I was doing about 120kms, he gave me 3 fingers and took off. pulled a few car lengths. When I caught up to him he was acting like an idiot, sticking his tongue out and stuff. So he did it again 3 fingers, I started in 3rd, got the initial jump, but he pulled HARD and passed me. It could have been my lack of experience, but I'd like to know if the mods Im planning to do will make the diffrence ?

Any other suggestions ?

Thanks!

Yeah first off, stop racing from a roll. If he gives you any $h!t, tell him that the last time I checked, a drag race didn't start from 120km/hr and the Trans Canada highway wasn't the Autobahn. Highway speeds and high RPM is where these high-strung turbo 4-bangers thrive. No sense running them on their terms. Get a good set of sticky tires along with 4.10 gears and those cams and a 75mm T/B and upper intake and tell him that if his cars so fast, he won't have a problem going light to light with you. AWD or not, he's gonna have to be making some serious power in a base WRX to hang with you after that.

Aside from that, I suggest you don't sweat it. Just like Zinc03GT stated, while he's running around in his 4-door shopping cart, you're tooling around in a Vert. F&^k him. :notnice:

Racing a wrx from a roll is more in our favor than a stop. Their AWD is a huge advantage out of the gate.

They are mid 14 second cars stock so they will run with a GT vert stock for stock.

Good luck and just be thankful you dont drive one of those goofy bug eyed eye sores.

It probably wasnt an STi but so you know when you buy one from subaru you have the option of telling them you dont want a spoiler on it....just a little fyi to look out for.

You might as well face the fact that somebody, somewhere will always be quicker than you are. I wouldn't live my life worrying about what passes me going down the road and street racing is plain stupid anyway. Enjoy your car for what it is and forget the idiots that taunt you.

Advantage wrx from a dig for sure, my brother in law has one with all kinds of gadgets, and he's a handfull.

I would have been worse from a dig.

Price match though, for what he paid for the wrx, not to mention the expensive mods he could have a cobra. For the money not a fast car.

Very well said. I've raced a few stock ones at the track and if you know how to launch your car well enough you will win 90% of the time. An STI, well forget that. There's a guy running consistent 12.8's at the track with a few bolt ons. I avoid highway racing and take my car to the track once a week to vent. You can't have more fun for $5 and you quickly realize that the cheapest mod in the world is PRACTICE. My first few months I couldn't go under 14.2 but with a little bit (ok a lot) of practice, check my sig. Seeing you live in my town, I hope to see you at the track this spring, top down of course :nice: .

Race a stock, it will make you feel better. He prob. spend over $5,000 to make that fast. WRX's and STI's are not known to be monsters from a roll.

Stock WRX's trap at 95mph, STI's at 104. Sure you can mod them, but you can also mod a stang.

Get your gears, the 327s are terrible drop down gears. All wheel drive cars have tons of drivetrain loss on a roll so remember that. I hate wrxs, there all over here and there my biggest threat.

Some local jackass has a WRX with a Fart Can and he thinks he's straight out of Need for Speed Underground.

He always picks on F-Bodies and Mustangs and gets beat everytime. After losing he always wants to " street " race across town for $50.

About 3 months ago he pulled this **** with me and I didn't play along. So he did a flyby, to bad he didn't see that turn lane curb. Ouch!!!

I always thought that wrexes were best in 1st and 2nd gear . . . my buddy at school had one, we never raced, but he says with the awd you could actually launch, and keep up with most anything in first, and kinda hang with them in 2nd, but he said he usually lost when he hit 3rd.

even though you might think turbo= higher power at top end, they kinda poop out at the higher speeds, when we have the torque to press on!

It depends on what has been done to the car, the WRX guys are enthusiast just like us. I have friend who paid about $30,000 for his WRX and has spend another $30,000(no kidding) in mods,he is pushing a RIDICULOUS amount of boost and from the outside it looks stock but it runs low 11's but best of all he admits he is jealous of my stang! His car won't smokem like a stang, will never SOUND like a stang and damn sure doesn't look as good. Be proud of what you have, some one is always quicker, and while that is a big part of it,it isn't EVERYTHING. He actually said "Sometimes I wish I would have bought a Mustang". Imagine what he could have done to a stang with 30G's!!!

see all these people with wrx's are giving them a bad name, i hate it! i own a modded wrx and practically everyone on the boards are mature and dont talk crap and dont think there the **** like the ricers do. And actaully you dont need to spend 5k+ to make a wrx fast. all you need to do is get an exhaust and a reflash (ecu) and you can beat a farley modded GT. and yea you can launch the wrx very nice, you can be bouncin off the rev limited and slip the clutch and the thing just takes off. But why are you comparing a mustang too a wrx??? mustang is a strait line muscle car, the wrx is a twisties rally car. there completly different cars, kinda pointless to be comparing them.
