should i keep the tri-bars or sell them? there in good shape and i know they dont go for much but if someone want's them that just did a 5 lug conversion then they would be great for you if you cant afford new wheels at the moment? or if ya need a spare set for some drag tire's? just some idea's we might put them on the 80,but then again there is alway's the explorer i could put them on but i was thinking bout putting FR500's on it? with that in mind is it true on a 4x4 that you need to run the same size tire/wheel on the front and rear? meaning i cant put 9's up front and 10.5's out back can i? i was told it will f stuff up. i really dont have the room here for them and i'll never sell the car i plan on buying another set (2) of 10.5's for my drag tires so they will match. peace

yes... its like putting 2 different sized tires on each side of a rwd car... you'll burn up the diff, only your 4wd will eat it instead of just the rearend. just a few 32nds difference between side to side or front and rear is enough to burn it up. it sucks... people will come in with a car... one tire will be toast for one reason or another, and we either have to replace all 4 or find a tire thats the same size and has within 2/32nds tread of all the other tires, because if we dont... and something in the drivetrain happens... guess what... its our fault :)

ps... them tribars the 17's ? if so I may be interested... I need winter wheels that fit over my brakes :(

He's talking about the tread depth of the tires bud, he means that a 2/32 difference in the tread ( heightth of the tire) will be a problem with a 4x4 or a awd.

And Sn98GT ,we have a set of 17's off a 99 Gt at our store for cheap, their in good shape. Call and talk to James Holecome about them ,there of his car. :nice:

For some reason (I've worked in the industry for almost twenty years and I still don't know why) tire tread depths are expressed in 32nds of an inch.
