i have flowmaster 40 series 2 chambers w/ tailpipes. They have a nice idle, loud while accelerating and quiet when cruising around 60mph. This is also w/o all the sound dampening material in the back (took out the rear seats and all).
They get louder at bout 80mph+
Yeah, my 2 cambers are nice tone but fairly quiet around 2000rpm, after 3000rpm thou its a different matter. They idel pretty "deep" with dumps, but nothing thats unbearable. When im at WOT and around 6500rpm thous thing are screaming:nice:

sorry to hijack a bit, but i think it is pertinant. with the bullets, do you guys do the install yourselves? what do you do to get around the stock pipes' offset? TIA. :)

i had shop put them on for me. the guy fabbed up some flow tubes that were at an angle so they would line up with the tail pipes. he did a really nice job and only charged me 50 bucks

thats what I'm looking for, but everyone keeps saying flowmasters drone like crazy? I dont want dumps, I like tailpipes.

why do people not like flowmasters do they cause THAT much drone!?

I think a lot of people are kinda sick of Flows because they've got this reputation for being the best, but now there's so many other great exhaust companies out there who are as good if not better, people are just taking other options. As far as sound goes, they've become the "traditional 5.0 sound", but now there's lots of other exhaust out there that people like the sound of better, so i think they're losing some reputation.

And yea, i think they droan that much.....i love the way MACs sound even with tail pipes....the sound inside the car is pretty quiet but they're pretty loud outside. It's got a lot to do with the MAC Prochamber instead of an H or X pipe and the long tube headers. I've had Flows hooked up with the same combo and they dont droan as much as they do with shorties and an H pipe.

listen....i dont mean to be an ass at all....really....so dont take this the wrong way, but EVERY person on here is going to tell you a different muffler that they like, and the majority have flows....its what a mustang is SUPPOSED to sound like....but thats just my opinion..... :nice: really im not being an ass...just an honest opinion...good luck choosing.........FLOWS :nice: :nice: :nice: :nice: you'll be doing this :bang: if you dont get flows (2 chamber)......also if u wanna quiet it down a lil just get 3 chambers....at idle its nice and quiet, but at WOT......WOA.....its just about as loud as 2 chambers........

hmm the 3 chambers sound about what I'm looking for! no you werent being an ass, yes there are wayyy to many different brands and its confusing but I've always liked flows, I forgot about the 3 chambers, I've only heard 2 and the 2 have alot of drone and really dont like it. So should I get teh Force II catback in your opinion?

well here's my honest opinion.....if you already have a catback with nice tips and pipes, just cut out the mufflers and weld in some 3 chambers.....or have a muffler place do it.....its cheap.......that way you could use the 200 bucks or so that you would have spent on a catback and put it towards somethin else on the car rather than buy a whole new catback.....just make sure that you order the mufflers with the correct inlet/outlet sizes..... :nice:

I wish I could the previous owner didnt install my catback right, the pipes are uneven :bang: and where the hangars are there is rust and he tried to paint it with gray paint :bang: but almost everything the car is good...

looks like I need the new catback...

almost the same as my exhaust combo (he's got shorties, i got lt) same mid-pipe and 3 chambers WOW!

I think that sound clip sold me on the 3 chambers man thats amazing. I love that sound! Look like I'll be ordering a Force II catback soon! :nice: :hail2:

edit: ok I looked at jegs for the Force II catback system 2 come up for the LX, one that just says: "389-17103 1987-93 LX and 1986 GT/LX, 2-1/2'' System, Dual-Out Rear-Exit" and the other says "389-17203 1987-93 LX/Cobra and 1986 GT, 2-1/2'' System, Dual-Out Rear-Exit, 50-Series Delta Flow Mufflers (7)" whats the difference? I thought the 3 chamber muffs where 50 series? and the seond one I listed is like 70 bucks more? why is that?

get bassani street competition mufflers. In a test by 5.0 mustang magazine they were by far the loudest.

I'm not looking for the loudest, I just want loud at WOT, and a quieter idle for cruising, the 3 chambered mufflers are what I'm looking for.

can anyone tell me the differences between the two different force II catbacks? (above)?

thanks for the feedback - ill call around. 50 bones aint bad. thanks again. :nice:

I have Borla on my 347 hatch, it is quiet at idle/cruising speeds, but it is very loud when I step on it. Sounds very nasty too. On my stock engine it sounded good too, not as loud, but still good.

3 chamber flows might satisfy you, I have them on my drop, they drone a little. I like the Borla better.

I second the Borla motion. I have them on my stang and love them. They're pretty tame at idle but at WOT they're just unreal. I used to have 3ch flows and they droned, and these don't really drone much at all. If you get them, you'll love them. I also did feel a bit of a power increase going from the flows to the borlas fyi. I was able to pick mine up for $75 each on ebay from husker high performance

http://www.exhaustproslinc.com/turbosmufflers.html

they sell them for $85 each right off the website. I got 2 1/4", I'm sure 2.5" might be a bit nicer..

Everybody's got flows, go with something different. That's what I do - do something slightly different from the norm. :)
