And the place was closed so I am looking around and outside they had a white GT and a yellow and LL v6 (LL is tied for the best color with black). S0 we are reading the sticker 28,890 for it... Now this is because it has the stupid shaker 1000 system in it but still. Anyways my friend is like OOOOOO active theft alarm, he pulls on the passenger side door and it is unlocked.... So we get in and sit in the thing (mind you the dealship left an unlocked GT outside on new years weekend when they were closed) and it has a creme interior. I sat in it and every ounce of me who wanted one of these beasts died. I don't know if it was the color scheme that made it look cheap, but the plastic everywhere looks so bad. And what was the plastic/aluminum bezel type thing over the passengerside dash????

The plastic surrounding the center counsole was :puke: as well. But the shifter was great. I will still test drive one and I hope to sit in one with a black interior, maybe (hoping) it will look better.

Outside :nice: :flag: x10 and I give the interior a :notnice: :( :nonono: :puke:

p.s. the wheels and visable mufflers will always suck.

I know what you mean, in a way. There are three V6 'stangs sitting in a lot near here, and two of them have that creme interior. They also have the same color stripes on the sides. Even though these are the two different reds, which I love, this color scheme is a turn-off for me as well. But I'll bet if the interior was darker, and they didn't have those light colored stripes on the sides that I'd find them much more attractive. Anyway, I'm not going to base my whole opinion of Mustangs on just one or two cars, especially since there is a Yellow one there with dark tinted windows and the black stripes down the sides that looks so sweeeet! The interior looks fine, to me. :D

Whenever I read someone's post or review that says the interior has too much plastic, I have to ask what other material should be used instead? Should the dash be made of leather? Metal? Wood?

And the "plastic/aluminum bezel type thing" is in fact, aluminum. Just like the optional aluminum dash trim for the $38,000 BMW 330 models...

How about polished aluminum surrounding the center console? It worked in the 2003 GT.
Ahh so a 29k car has the same option as a $59 pc case from CompUSA? :nice:
I can push it in, the bezel piece moves w/o much force.

If you pick apart my bitching I am hoping it was the color, I want to sit AND drive in one with either red or black, maybe everything will look much more flush.

Yea my same feeling about a red 05 with that red interior.I sat in it and man I did not like it, especially that huge silver strip on the dash....then I got to drive one W/O the IUP and I believe it had black interior...and well I loved it, it was very nice and felt/looked like it was a very high quality. (opposit of the other car) I liked the drive better than my 04, better ride, better control, felt more expencive.I just didnt like the throttle control, when you nail it, it quickly and smothly applies the power vs mine which just gives it all to you as soon as you nail it.Now dont expect very much when you drive it, its not very fast like your thinking, and pull back in the seat is at an absolute minimum.Just dont want your hopes up like mine were LOL.

No problem - everyone is entitled to an opinion. I read a review somewhere where the guy thought the all black non-IUP interior looked like the inside of a cave or something.

And even in your response, you say that the center console might look better with aluminum trim, yet in the very next sentence you are saying that aluminum is cheap! See what I mean - nothing is going to please everyone...

My original point is that it's become a cliche for reviewers to say that a car's interior is too plastic-y, so I'm just asking what's the alternative? Even $50,000 Corvettes and $70,000 BMW M5s have plastic interior parts, don't they?

BTW, I agree with you that the console is the cheapest-looking part of the interior, and they could have done better with it. OTOH, it's a $25K car, so not sure what we should expect.

sorry to be confusing but the smooth polished aluminum surrounding the gauges, center console, and shifter in the IUP of a 2003 GT is much nicer than the house siding they have in the 05gt. They look completely different. If this is the IUP maybe I will LOVE the car without it  I am hopping I do, because damn i love the outside, but I dont get to look at the outside if I drive one, only that house siding :p

Ah, I got you now. Well check out this aftermarket IUP then and see if you like this: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=11105&st=20 There's a picture in one of the posts.

The only problem is that the Ford IUP is actually much more than just the aluminum trim - you also get a Message Center displaying stuff like real-time MPG, Remaining Fuel, etc.; voltage and oil pressure gauges; leather steering wheel and shift knob; and adjustable color gauge lighting.

The aftermarket kit has aluminum to cover the console and around the stereo in addition to the dash strip. I just wonder if that's a bit too much aluminum? What do you think?

Actually I think it does look quite a bit better and I really think the black interior helps a lot. But that 2 piece aluminum thing is hanging onto the passanger side airbag. Watch of of those suckers leave a nice lined imprint on someone :p

hmmm if I love the outside and and I hate the interior but I want to look at other interiors to see if my opinion changes... hmm yeah you read alot there gino I would expect more from you since you have seen other threads of mine saying I like it. I love the fact that it is faster than mine, I would be dissapointed in ford if it wasn't. But I couldnt look at that interior everyday, it doesn't change with speed...

I think the interior looks better than ours. More retro, yeah.....but at least there's different kinds of plastic. Ours is the same plastic all over the place.

Then again, why the hell do people complain about plastic interiors? What the hell else is there......I have yet to see a dashboard made out of a chunk of billet aluminum.

meh it just seems blocky and chunky I guess. My biggest hangup is that passenger side, it feels and looks cheap and can be pressed inward. It's like tacked on pieces. I like the spedometer and other gauge pods though.

Yeah, the 05 was a real disappointment in styling. Interior and exterior. From the pics the interior looked better than the old ones, but when I sat in it, I wanted my 5 year old interior over the brand new one. The exterior, just a mess. :(

This seems to be the exact opposite of what a majority of the automotive world is saying. I've never seen so many positive reviews about a Mustang from the media, and from people in general.

I think the sales figures once the supply shortage is shortened out will show how many people like the new style.

LOL. Thank God Ford disagrees with you
