What is the best supercharger for the streets?
I was thinking of KenneBell, vortech, paxton or procharger. Ive heard good things of the Kenne Bell 9Psi intercooled and its instant boost.
I mostly drive on the streets maybe go to the track 3 times a year.

what would be the one to go with, Im leaning towards KB right now.

Your title says which is the best for drag but your post asks which is best for streets? Anyway, most will agree for a pure street car and light drag the KB would be the best but it's price tag is up there. For drag though, centrifugal s/c's would be the better choice. Centri's make their power in the higher rpm's which when drag racing is where you want to be! The low end tq of the KB will make launch's tricky.

A twin screw such as a Kenne Bell gives you more of a flat line power curve. You have it at all times the second you step on the gas. A centirfugal blower like a Vortech takes a few RPM's to get it to it's peak power output and gets stronger as you stomp on the gas.

Oh no...here we go on this argument again :bang:

Im not starting it again, edited my post.

:D

To anwer the question, centrifugals are better for drag racing for the simple fact that a twin screw makes all of its power starting at 2,000 rpms. Way too hard to launch right and the centrifugal has it's best thermal efficiency at high rpms.

But a turbo beats them both, hands down.

They are about the price same as 9psi KB intercooled kit.

I said double the price of a CENRTIFUGAL blower. I know how much the HP guys charge for their kits, I have talked to them in person at the Roswell Dragway. Great guys, just wish I had $6K to blow on my car right now.

Who doesent

Well I have an 03 GT w/ a vortech sq running 8lbs and have beaten KB cars, (1) cobra, Corvettes, porches etc and have lost to a bunch of other cars even a few rice burners. Bottom line is no matter how fast you are there will be someone faster. So choose what will be the most economical and fun for you. :flag:

Well turbos do make more power than S/Cs BUT at high power lvs the turbo has crazy lag and have to actually start revving the engine in the prestage just to get it to spool (have watched them run)...BTW it sounds cool, the revs go to around 5-6K then a few seconds later you hear the whistle sound of the turbo spooling up.But as for high power lvs for the street/strip car, you cant beat the centrifugal blowers.ATI has good blowers, but so do vortec and paxton...according to paxton (parrent compony of vortec), vortec is a cheaper line of S/Cs with cheaper parts used than the paxtons...yea I couldnt believe he was dissin his own sister company LOL, but thats what he told me.So I would tend to go with paxton over vortec, heck even their price is steeper than vortecs, gess you get what you pay for.

I'm pretty sure Vortec bought Paxton b/c it was about to go under a few years ago.
Anyhoo Vortec and Paxton s/c's are assemble in the same building using the almost identical parts. I think anyone would have a hard time trying to "prove" either peice is anything but quality. My $.02
