Biggeley said:I have the 1.6" FMS rockers with stock valve covers as well. I also notice the reported tick from the passenger side front. The tick is very slight, but noticeable at idle with the hood open.
It could just be some resonance that occurs around the oil filler hole. Since the other valve cover is sealed maybe that's why you don't hear it on that side. I noticed that as well with the stock valve train as well. However it seems to be a pretty common problem so I wouldn't worry too much unless it gets louder.

Biggeley said:On mine I did remove the baffle. Of course to do that you will need to pull the valve cover. If you do that, inspect your rockers.. The blue coating will scratch on any places it contacted the valve cover.
It's not good. Metal on metal contact is not good and will leave shavings in your engine.1990LXDropTop said:Will it hurt my rockers if they are hitting the baffle? Because the ticking does come from where the oil baffle is.... I think I will remove it when I re-torque all my bolts this weekend.

When you remove your valve covers you will see weather or not they were hitting.

Even 1.6 pedestal mount ones need to have the baffles removed and a little grinding on the mounts.1990LXDropTop said:I don't get why they would be hitting. I mean they are FMS 1.6 pedestal rockers, not 1.7 or stud mount. I thought they should clear fine?
