First time driving car after h/i/c. All I have to say is... WOW

Yes that is what I was thinking because the sound comes from the front of the passenger side valve cover... But when I think about it, I don't see why I wouldn't clear it. I have FMS 1.6 rockers, not 1.7. The valve covers are the same height as stock. Why would it not clear?

I have the 1.6" FMS rockers with stock valve covers as well. I also notice the reported tick from the passenger side front. The tick is very slight, but noticeable at idle with the hood open.

It could just be some resonance that occurs around the oil filler hole. Since the other valve cover is sealed maybe that's why you don't hear it on that side. I noticed that as well with the stock valve train as well. However it seems to be a pretty common problem so I wouldn't worry too much unless it gets louder.

It is pretty noticable when the hood is up and the car is fully warmed up. When the hood is down you can hear it slightly as well. It sounds like a nasty exhaust leak. Did you have to remove the oil baffle? I left mine on. Could they be hitting the baffle?

I noticed that my idle surges a little here and there. I was pulling into a parking space when the car suddenly died. I started her back up and the idle was surging pretty badly eventually causing it to stall again. But then I started it again and it was fine. I think it's just my car getting use to all the new mods. The cam is a 2040 which is the same as an e-cam, so I understand why I might have some idle issues. Other than that the car runs great! Didn't really notice a loss in low end, but the car comes alive at about 3000rpms. It pulls hard from 3000 to 5500, however I can tell it's running lean. I'm installing a 255lph fuel pump on Thursday, hopefully that will help out a bit.

On mine I did remove the baffle. Of course to do that you will need to pull the valve cover. If you do that, inspect your rockers.. The blue coating will scratch on any places it contacted the valve cover.

Will it hurt my rockers if they are hitting the baffle? Because the ticking does come from where the oil baffle is.... I think I will remove it when I re-torque all my bolts this weekend.

It's not good. Metal on metal contact is not good and will leave shavings in your engine.

When you remove your valve covers you will see weather or not they were hitting.

Nice. I'm going to do a TFS h/c/i kit this Summer along with a set of gears and headers, as well as an overall engine rebuild/forged internals. Eventually shooting for high-12's with some minor suspension work. Then maybe next Summer I'll slap a snail in there...and I'll need another daily driver. :p

Yeah my exhaust got louder (the overall tone and at idle) after I did the h/c/i swap...

I had to trim my oil baffle to clear Crane/Ford 1.7's with a stock cam...
