i think a kid needs at least a year of experience driving, a drivers training class, and a respectful attitude before they get a good car...
i give the poor mustang a month before it has to visit the body shop
You let your kids drive around at 14 in those cars? Good thing I live nowhere near Temecula.

Your kids should be getting good grades without being bribed. That's just ridiculous. My parents just expected me to do well in school and that was that.
Ohhh yeahhh, they are really on the road now.........get real. They practice in parking lots and out on roads where there isn't a car in sight........you must have done very well in school...............I'm sure your parents are proud.

Yeah, I'm glad you don't live near Temecula either...........Liberals and Temecula just don't mix...........

all kids should have to drive a sh&t box for at least the first 2 years of their license...not to steer them away from bad driving, but only because it gives them character...haha...but im not so sure being youn and having a fast car = immediate danger for all..i drove much more dangerously in my beater b4 i got to college and bought my stang

So you're a liberal if you think it, ahem, a bit unwise to turn 16 year olds loose in 450+hp automobiles  If people who disagree are just dumb liberals, then why all the crappy rationalizations?

Both my daughters were good responsible drivers when they were 16 (and still are). They both drove fast (and expensive) cars and had no problems other tha a couple of minor speeding tickets. My son however was the opposite. Weed, dangerous driving, disturbing the peace, you name it. He put my Lightning in the ditch (10k damage), smacked up my Lexus (5K), Volvo (3K) and the list goes on. I probably would have been just as bad at his age but didnt have the money for a car. The point is...on average, I would guess that boys can handle a car better than girls but at the same time they tend to be more reckless when behind the wheel....during THE PHASE.

Yep I did very well in school, it was expected. And yes my parents were proud. Thanks for asking.

Explain exactly how I'm a liberal? Because I don't think a 16-year old should have a Mustang Cobra? Interesting corrolation. Man you're bizarre. How the hell did politics get involved here? LOL.

Temecula does not have any trailers.........and if you saw one, it was probubly the one you were driving/living in when you passed through.

I called you a liberal because on another post all you did was talk ****. You are all for dishing out MY tax money for people who want to sit on their ass all day and collect welfare..........am I wrong??? I made a reference to illegal immigrants.........and you got all pissed off........wanting everyone/thing to be equal, don't get me wrong, there are piece of **** people of all colors, but sometimes you just need to face the facts, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE THE PROBLEM WITH CALIFORNIA.

I have 14 year old twin daughters, they will each be getting a Cobra for their 16th Birthday. They knew they wanted a Cobra at age 11. They have grown up around sports cars and racing. They know what is right and wrong. Any kid can go over 100 mph in just about any car, if they want to........I see adults every day that drive like crap..........
My parents bought me a very nice car when I turned 16, and I had no problems at all. It is how you raise your kids...nothing else.
They will not pay for insurance or anything else............they will repay us by doing well in school. They are addicited to their cell phones now........if they screw up, the phones are gone, it will be the same with their cars.
We have an 03 Cobra, 05 GT, 05 F350 crew cab, long bed, and they drive them all........pretty good too!

This is not a Flame.

Its good that you have a strong relationship with your teenage daughters and you trust them.

When I was a kid my buddies and I did the things we were supposed to. We were good kids making good grades involved in Football,Track&field we just said "No to drugs", our parents were proud of us and trusted us the way you trust your girls.

One of my friends had a Shoebox Nova with a 327 and another had a Ranchero with a built 289. All I can say is, I thank god in our stupidity we never hurt anyone. We would do 110 mph in a 45 zone. Zig Zag through taffic on the Highway at break neck speeds. We endanged everyone around us. Our parents never found out.

You are right most cars these days will see triple digits on the speedo. But a 450+ HP Cobra will go that fast in a blink of an eye. much faster than a young driver will be able to handle.

I will buy my kids their first cars, but I will not be tempting them with Neck snapping Torque under their right foot. Kids will be kids no matter how responsible they are.

Luckily for me the only thing my kids can drive right now are Power Wheels. LOL

just my .02

Meat

P.S. Im a registered republican! and I'm farther to the right than most.. so please dont call me a liberal. I just moved to Temecula a few months back so plese let me know when your girls get their Cobras so I can get off the road J/K

If I thought I could get away with getting them a V6, I would, well probubly not. They have grown up around fast cars, they know the horsepower of every mustang from 95 on up.........We have had several GT's, 3 Cobras, and a Saleen........they know more about cars/mustangs than most guys! The best thing is that they appreciate a good/fast car.
