I don't know about any of you, but I've decided to wait until Christmas to buy an '06. All the problems of the '05 should be fixed and any new problems on the '06 should become apparent by that time and hopefully the mustang crave will calm down a bit from the '05 and I can get a better deal on an '06.

This is all good, but man, another 8 months to wait and then all of winter to wait until I can drive it. Ahhh! Oh well, I guess good things happen to those who wait.

waiting for the '06

I'm with you, brother. Every time I see a new 'Stang my insides tense up but I'm going to wait. I was thinking about Christmas too but have decided to order in Sept.
I really hope they keep the red accent interior because it will look great in a black GT 'vert with IUP. I also want the 18" wheel option which is supposed to be available on the '06's. I drove a red GT 'vert ('05) and was super impressed. Sept. can't get here too quick. Patience is a virtue.

I was anxiously awaiting an '06 until I saw the SVT. Now I am trying to find a dealer to commit to sell me one of those for MSRP! Hopefully I'll get good news soon, but If I can't buy it for sticker, I will definitely get an '06 GT.

Don't count on the hype going down if anything news says it will be worse and an even worse wait. Thousands and thousands of 05 owners not getting their order filled will be going for 06 and Ford has already said there will be a price increase in the 06 so it will be more expensive than the 05....

I admire those with patience......my 2nd 05 GT is supposed to be arriving today. Way to cool to drive................. I had to have a manual trans even though the auto drives like one. I couldn't wait if my life depended on it............I chased my first one back to the dealership- it was out on a test drive....luv at first site....now elevated to obsession!

It's not going to get any worse. It probably isn't going to get any better for the next 5-6 months but unless Ford has a problem with the factory it's not going to get any worse. Remember, this is a MUSTANG! This is not a limited edition exotic car. Whoever is in charge of estimating demand for the Mustang needs to be "reposititioned" or fired because they goofed big time.

Some people are already waiting 5-6 months for a GT..especially if they ordered with A/Z/D/X plan pricing. They have to keep the GT/V6 mix right to meet federal fuel guidelines and avoid the gass guzzler tax. Ford has already boosted production and added shifts. They'll expand even more if they need to. They're not going to leave money on the table.

Here in SoCal, there is a substantial inventory of the V6 at the dealerships.

If you're using a "plan", just get the dealer to order it as a retail car, then charge the "plan" at the time it's received. That's what my dealer is doing for me (but I've bought 6 cars from him- might make a difference).

Im "planning" to get my GT in summer of 06, I want to put atleast 40%-50% down on it and i want to payoff and keep my 03 zx2 as a daily driver, nothing saved right now though :(........

I'm hoping to get mine in the summer of '06. Since the new GT500 might be a little out of my price range :( . Hopefully they might release a limited edition Mach, or even a Boss model for me to try and get. But for now One year from now I will be getting ready to settle down with my new car.

Tell that to the ahole dealers that are marking them up! :D

The dealers are doing what they are always trying to do...maximize profit. That doesn't make the car exotic. You don't see Lotus making 192,000 Elise to export to the US do you? My point is that production WILL catch up to demand and eventually pass it at least slightly.

Those who buy under the current market conditions may be emotionally rewarded but, those who are patient and buy later will be financially rewarded.

don't know if i'll be ready in 06, but i'll definetely be waiting. my reasons:

1) the hype WILL eventually go down and Ford WILL eventually flood the market to the point where deals and rebates will be found.

2) I wanna see what special editions may roll out. can't afford a GT500, but something a little unique would be cool. mach edition on this body style will be SCHWEET!

3) i'd say all or most of the bugs should be worked out by late 06 or 07 models. my guess, at least.

4) it'll be that long until i get done paying for the car i have now and i still don't know if i wanna trade it in or not with gas prices going the way they are.

Well, as the years go by, the less bugs there are in the cars. I figure the new '06 should have all the bugs worked out. The only possible bugs left will be the long term ones. Those that show up after 2,3, or 4 years. I want to get mine at Christmas. Hopefully things will be better then, if not, I don't mind waiting some more.

I ordered an 05 Black GT the day the order bank opened. I ordered under my fleet number and now over a year later it still shows as clean and unscheduled. I am thinking it will never get built at this point. I also no longer want it. I am now trying to convince them They need to sell me a GT 500 at sticker

if you really want an 06 gt, order as soon as you can. if you can get one in december, it will have a huge markup as some dealers will hold a few at markup just to have them.yes 06 will be worse than 05.consider these points:
1. people are accepting the fact they will pay msrp if they want one.
2. dealers that originally offered plan(and the few that delivered that promise)now realise they could have sold every one they got at sticker.
3.those who have waited for the bugs to be worked out will now be buyers.
4.those who had nbever seen the car to appreciate it have seen it and rode in it----they are now buyers.
5.those whop realise that the demand is actually as high as they were told will buy early, keeping prices up.

wait till december and you will be like many on this forum, waiting months on your car to be built , if at all!!
