Just curious on what you guys are managing to fit. I'm sure it would also be very helpful to someone looking to buy aftermarket wheels/tires to be able to see what options they have.

what is your...

1. Mustang year
2. Rear wheel size and backspacing
3. Front wheel size and backspacing
4. rear tire size
5. front tire size

  • Sponsors (?)

1970 Mustang Grande
18x9" with 5" backspacing
245/40/R18 front and rear

At factory ride height there was no rubbing problems. I'm currently in the process of lowering it.

1. Mustang year: 1969
2. Rear wheel size and backspacing: 16x8, 4.5 inch BS
3. Front wheel size and backspacing: 16x8, 4.5 inch BS
4. rear tire size: 235/50/16 (wanted 245s but Toyo doesn't make it)
5. front tire size: 225/50/16

I want to fit a 275/40/17 on the back of my 67. I'm a little uncomfortable shelling out $650 for 2 custom rear wheels without even knowing FOR SURE if they would work. That fitment chart says I need a 17x9.5 wheel with 6" backspacing..... That just doesn't sound right to me, so I think REAL LIFE EXAMPLES would be a much better indicator whether a certain tire/wheel will work.

look for Bad67fun's car. It is a light green 67 fastback with vinatge45's on it. I think he put a 10 or 11" wide rear wheel on with out any issues. There used to be a whole thread on here showing measurments and progress pics but I can't seem to find it right now.

maybe it has somethign to do with the massive server crash :fuss:

Dude.. I just can't stop staring at your girl avatar.

Well, I have some good news and bad news. The good news is that Bad67Fun was my old handle. So I have info you can use. The bad news is that I don't know how to load up pics again after I've loaded them before in here. I'll see if I can dig up a pic though for you.

Here's the skinny:

I run the Vintage 45's.

REAR: 17x9.5 with 5.5 bs and 275-40 Yoko's.
FRONT: 17x8 with 4.5 bs and 235-45 Yoko's.

I have the inner fenders rolled front and back. And my car is low... as in 620's up front with half a coil cut and 5 leaf reverse eyes in the rear. The Shelbly drop also. I've yet to experience any rub during autocross. But on a really big dip or bump... the rears touch the inside of the fender well up into the wheel well.

Combo works for me...

if you could change the setup at all, would you change the rear backspacing for a better fit?

Um, sure. I could go another 1/4 to 1/2 possibly of backspacing before I'd hit the leaf springs. But the wheels I bought didn't come to that spec. So if I recall correctly from your earlier post.... yes, you could go ahead with a 6" bs. And if it's too much... you can always space it out a bit.

where exactly do you think those fitments came from?? Many of those on that list came from members of this forum. Its not guess work, those are real life examples. When they arent its noted....

oh yea, dodgestang. I am running 17x8's with 4.5inches of backspacing, 5 leaf mideyes and a 1inch block. 245's, fenders are rolled but I dont think I would have to.

17x7's 225's with negative wedge kit and 1/2 coil gone on 620lb 1inch drop springs.

That is if you want some more infor for the 65-66
