B-J Sells First GT 500E Convertible for $550,800!!!!!

I saw this car at the Amelia Island concours show(northeast fla.) a few weeks before the barrett jackson show in west palm. It is a very nice car. The attention to detail was excellent and I even got a few ideas for my resto. Having said all that, I thought I was going to lose my lunch when they said they (unique) wanted $180,000 or there about. It was nice but come on it wasn't that nice. I was watching the auction live on tv and was blown away at the price that it was fetching. I don't know what the guys bidding were thinking. Charity got a good portion, don't know how much but that was just plain silly.

That's funny -- I had exactly the opposite impression. Rhyno-lining stuff coating the engine compartment & undercarriage sheet metal, hardware store bolts with washers holding the fenders on instead of proper fender bolts, poor panel fit on the fiberglass, etc., etc., etc. Not what I'd hope for on a $180,000 car.

I can set you up with a Elanor vert or FB for under 80K (everything included).

I don't make them (I can barely get my car running half the time). My friend Larry made one. It looked PERFECT, just like an Elanor.

I can't believe people pay those prices.

i never realized the attention to detail was that poor. it only figures. anybody buying one is not looking for a concours or a correct car and probably won't notice the shortcomings. has a lot of money though....
