jack the lower control arm up just a tad to keep the spring tensioned. unbolt the caliper, abs sensor (if equipped), two bolts going to steering knuckle, and sway bar(if equipped). slowly lower jack and when its all the way down, kick the spring out. ive only done springs on V8s and have never worked on the 4 bangers. But if its a similar modified mcpherson system, then youre good as gold

Oh no Help again

I did not think about that okay guys how do can I remove and reinstall them with out Killing myself LOL I know this is no funny stuff to mess with but I would like to do it dose sears sell a spring conpressor that would make it a bit easy. well if you guys can give me all the info that I can use thanks again.

You don't need a spring compressor to do it. jack the car up on the LCA and jackstand under the frame. When everything is unbolted SLOWLY lower the control arm using the jack. It will come out no problems. Installation is a little harder but it is just the opposite of taking it out. But remember SLOWLY is the key.

i put a chain around the spring/through the control arm
:stupid: I don't know about the 4 cylinder, but the 8 cylinder spring can come flying and you might want to pull it out with a long rope or something else far away from the spring instead of kicking it out.

Mine fell out when I let the control arm down far enough.

I have heard of them flying

I have heard of the spring flying out and that spells danger LOL its kind of funny putting a rope and standing far away from it but hey better that than getting hit by it. there's got to be an easier way. keep me posted guy thanks

Im pretty sure he meant to keep it from flying out.....anyway....i'd like to know too, how do you get those front springs back in? even with a compressor i couldn't get the 4cyl springs i wanted in. i just had to put the crappy 2in drop ones back in the front since they're soo short. SRY to take over your post stang2die42005 :D

i've heard of a mustanger being killed in the recent past from a spring flying out. IMO, if you're not highly skilled with a wrench, leave it to the pro's, or chain the **** out of them to be sure they don't fly out, then pm me and give my your 4 cylinder springs, as they make a perfect low budget drag racing suspension.

I was curius, I am installing some moroso trick drag springs in the front of my car. I have a spring compressor, but I cant put them back in with it on there. How do I bind the spring in order to take the compressor off. These springs are taller than my stock ones, so I am going to have to compresss them. Sorry for for the post. Thanks.
