No more 05's to be scheduled

My dealer told me Ford announced yesterday no more 05's will be scheduled for build. He said if a car isn't scheduled it will be built as an '06 and the earliest I would get it would be July.

This stinks. I ordered my 'vert on 1/28. I can only imagine how people who ordered before then feel.

Has anyone else heard this?

According to other posts here, '06 production won't start until Aug 8, so the July date seems very optimistic unless Ford is bumping their production schedule up. See if you can pin your dealer down on the production date for '06 (and let everybody here know!).

Sorry you're going to have to wait... that's gotta hurt especically after waiting 3 months already.

bullsh#t!!! there are plenty scheduled to be built. just no new orders.this is for gt's, you can still order a v-6.ford has a backlog of around 70,000 orders waiting to be built.

also FYI, look for the 06 model to follow the same pattern.we are already starting a list for 06 orders, our allotment will probably be filled off order units only. and yes, markups and lack of dealers honoring plan pricing will be worse!

Is there any talk of producing the Bullet or any other special additions in 06?

Yellow, if it gets any worse than Ford is losing a customer...ME. I have an order in for a GT vert here at a SoCal dealership (placed 3/18). It's still C/U. I spoke with my rep last week and told him that if I don't have a build date by 5/18 that I'll be canceling my order to buy a '05 BMW 330ci convertible w/ performanc pkg (ExCon would be proud :rlaugh: ). He said that he understood and that orders have been taking 9-12 weeks for them to receive.

Either way, I'll be getting a car that's a pleasure to drive. If Ford and it's dealer network are so screwed up that they can't provide credible and reasonable information regarding build dates and delivery, then I'd rather do business with an auto manufacturer that is organized who I can trust. I'm sure BMW will be happy to accomodate me in that regard. :D

I've owned a series of Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda vehicles over the years. If Ford can't recognize the true value of a repeat customer then I will be happy to give them one less customer to care about.

Is it just me or do other people feel the same?

From what I've read in this forum, I really think it has a lot to do with the dealership you go through. I place my order about the same time as you, and my build date is 4/25. In fact, I already had my build date 2 weeks after I placed the order.

We were told the exact same thing in Feb. when we wanted to order our Mustang. Just a bunch of BS from a dealer that didn't have any allotments to order any. We went right to a different dealer and ordered it. We picked it up last Thursday.

We ordered an 05 GT vert through a dealer here in the Atlanta area about a month ago, and were told it would be 8-10 weeks until arrival, but that was never confirmed. We got impatient and did some online searches of dealer inventories in other cities within a few hundred miles radius, through www.ford.com. We had to drive to Savannah to find one with the options we wanted, and at MSRP, but I'm now the proud owner of an 05 GT vert!
If you're willing to drive, the cars are out there. The place we went, J.C. Lewis Ford, has several GTs on the lot.

To clarify, I didn't mean no more were scheduled for build. There are plenty scheduled to be built. What I was told is no more will be scheduled as '05's. If your car isn't scheduled at this point it will be an '06. This probably is for GT's. I checked around with some other dealers and the story was consistent.

MyBlueOval: I admire your tenacity - but I don't really see how ANY Ford dealer can make the decision to sell one of their precious Mustang GTs at x-plan.

I would be very concerned about the judgement and decision making skills of any employee of mine who sold a $29K product for $27K, especially if, as I've read on some message boards, dealers are actually buying these cars from each other for MSRP and some are even offering to buy them back from customers for slightly below MSRP.

But one day I truly hope you can say "I told you so" to everyone. I just hope "x-plan in 2006" is substantially less than "MSRP in 2005" - so all your patience won't be in vain.

Mark, like I said in my post, if I don't get my GT vert order in a reasonable period of time I will be purchasing the "Ultimate Driving Machine". Maybe in a few years I might give the Mustang GT a chance when Ford and it's dealers have taken their heads out of their backsides. I'm interested in the Stang because I have access to X-plan. You're business perspective is different than mine. As I've said before, I've forgone immediate profit on a deal because I knew that I was building a long-term customer relationship that would net me greater profit over time. 95+% of the dealerships out their right now have forgotten what "customer care" really means.

I'm sure that "X-plan in 2006" will be substantially less than "MSRP in 2005". Remember, this IS a Mustang and there are definite price points that Ford can not cross and still meet sales targets. However, if my '05 order is delayed too long, I won't be getting a 2006 Mustang...I'll be getting a 2005 BMW 330ci convertible to enjoy the warm SoCal sun this summer! :D

If you are gonna pay the price of a BMW 330ci convertable. Then just buy a GT convertable with dealer mark up off a lot. You will get special customer care when you pay that much. Screw X-Plan, quit being cheap if you can afford a BMW. I did a search with a LA zip code 90001 and found 4 mustang GT convertables on the lot. Quit your bitching and go buy a stang.

if you want an 06 gt, you will have to go through the order procxess again. 05 orders will not be instantly converted to an 06 order.and might i suggest you do it ASAP.

tnmustang: I feel your pain. I ordered my 05 GT Premium from a dealership in North Atlanta on 1/22/05 (with $1000 deposit and X-Plan) and my car was C/U until I got my VIN# on 4/8/05. I had to constantly stay on my dealership's ass just to get a status report. I finally got my 4/25/05 build date last week and hope to have delivery by early June.

My advice is to stay in close contact with the Inventory Manager at your dealership and make them give you a weekly status report. I know several of us (cheesesnake, torrie, etc.) all received our VIN # on 4/8 and have a build date of 4/25.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Zengirl-help me out. I have a build date on my GT Vert order: "sched to be built week of 04-18", but I do not have a VIN yet. How did you go about getting the VIN? My info is courtesy of the robot lady and not from the dealer.

Topless - call your inventory manager at your local dealership and ask for your VIN#. I never got anywhere with the Ford 1-800-Robot-Lady and kept calling my dealership each week for updates. My baby was C/U from 1/22/05 up until 4/8/05 when my dealer emailed my VIN#. Supposedly the robot-lady phone number is strictly for dealerships and we common folk aren't suppose to call it.

Also, it seems that as soon as you get your VIN#, your build date is set for about 3 weeks after that. A few of us (stangscuba98a, torri834, cheezsnake, & others) all received our VIN# on 4/8 and have a build date set for 4/25. Check out the thread http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=533673

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Yes, the BMW will cost more and yes, I can afford it...that's why I have choices. I think that some people are missing the essence of my frustration. I am ANGRY with Ford and their dealerships because frankly, most just DO NOT CARE if you've bought other vehicles from them. They're just out to extract as much flesh from GT buyers as they possibly can. Customer relationships be damned...there's money to be made. Carpetbaggers and extortionists!

No, I can't get plan pricing on the BMW. And yes, Mustang GT Vert MSRP < BMW 330ci Vert negotiated. You're right...it will feel good for awhile. Then, 3 years from now when I go to get the next "new new thing" that my heart desires, the reality will hit in the resale value.

Tell you what damnitsyellow, if you can find me a WVblue GT vert with manual, IUP, dk. charcoal interior and top I will be happy to buy it from you at MSRP if you'll cover the shipping to southern California. For once, I slightly wish that I lived in some other part of the country.
