Rattling/squeaking front brakes

My anti-rattle clips for my front calipers are shot. I called the Ford dealer, they don't make them anymore. I went to every auto parts store, they can't get them either. These brakes have been doin this for almost a year now (5 actual months of driving, so around 4,000-5,000 miles), and are getting worse. They rattle like hell on bumps and they chirp like a damn bluejay while I'm driving...quite frankly it is embarrassing.

So, has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? Are there any cheaper brands of brake pads that I can get through Advance Auto or Auto Zone for a temporary fix to regain some pride in driving? I've heard some pads come with the clips, but I'm a bit strapped for cash right now, so I was gonna try and get some pads tomorrow and install them in the parking lot here at school, then get a good set of pads this summer when I'm working again.

Any help is appreciated.

Something on my car still squeeks even after I changed the breaks and I used those clips for the brake install. My cars exhaust drowns out the sound most of the time or I just turn my music up and just ignore all the mysterious sounds my car makes. If something breaks then I will fix it. It is too hard to try and pin point everything and replace stuff that really wasn't broken.

Interesting. I don't remember any anti-rattle clips for the front brakes, but I do remember a kit for the rears. Bendix, I believe. I just went to my local auto store and asked for a kit for the rear brakes.

Sometimes, brake squeal can be fixed by swapping pads from left to right. I had bad squeal in my rear brakes after changing the pads & rotors. I swapped the inside pads with each other, and the squeal vanished.

Yeah well actaully when i put my new pads in i forgot to swap them over. It made kinda like a thumping noise when I hit the brakes. I jacked up the car and took the wheels off and had somebody hit the brakes while I spun the rotors and I could see the caliper move so I knew right away that was the problem.

cool

I went to the site, they have them. They also have a kit which has the pins too, I might spring the extra $20 and get new pins too. For some reason when I click the "BUY" button on either item, it displays some error. So I guess I'll call them tomorrow and see what's up.

Hey guys just wanted to do a follow-up on this. I got the caliper hardware kit from diskbrakesrus.com, which includes new pins, washers, c-clips, and anti-rattle clips, for around $45 shipped to my door. I installed them today and it did the trick. Anybody out there who was havin the same problem I was, well there's your fix. Also, if you don't wanna buy the whole hardware kit you can get just the anti-rattle clips for $20.

I can drive with pride again lol :nice:
