Hey, I'm upgrading my stock gears from 3.27 to 3.55. I have a stock AODE vert. Will this wake up the car? Im afraid they arent big enough. But I don't race a lot...how much will I feel this difference?

You have to make a change of about 1/4 of a turn before you even start to feel a difference and then it will be slight.

That is the reason peeps say they could not tell a difference when going from 308's to 327's or 355's to 373's and the like.

I'd not waste the time or money for a change that small on a street car combo.

Most of the na auto trans guys go for at least 373's and lots of them run 410's.

Dude, I have an auto and I just got 4.10s put in last thursday. If you really want to wake up that car man, get 4.10s. 3.55 is a low gear ratio for an auto in my opinion.

You will regret getting 3.55 in your auto I know tons of auto people who even regret getting 3.73s and now want to go 4.10. It's your choice, just here to give you a heads up before you make your decision. :cheers:

I like my 3.73's with my auto. Nice for daily driving and the car still hauls when the pedal is planted to the floor. You are going from 3.27's, so go with 4.10's. I had 4.10's in my previous mustang and they were a really nice gear, especially if you are not on the highway alot.

So...I went from 17" tires with 355s to 18" with 373s...Net gain??? sounds like i may have stayed even so to say???

Remember that increasing the rim diameter does not necessarily increase the overall tire size.

Tire diameter (D) =(rim size) + 2 x (aspect ratio)/100 x (tire width)/25.4

For example,

275 40 17 tire

D=17+2*(40)/(100)*(275)/25.4=25.66 inches

275 35 18 tire

D=18+2*(35)/(100)*275/25.4=25.58 inches

The difference is only 0.1 inches

I was only going to get the 3.55's because I can get them for free. I need a rear and a junkyard has either a whole rear with 3.27's or 3.55's for the same price. So it's sort of a free upgrade...I was just wondering if I would feel it but I guess not all that much.
Thanks guys
