Two weeks ago:

"As of April 7th, your unit is scheduled to be built, week of April 25th"

One week ago:

"As of April 7th, your unit is scheduled to be built, week of May 2nd"

Today:

"As of April 7th, your unit is scheduled to be built, week of May 9th"

What's going on. I realize this is much better that C/U but come on.....

My dealer tells me that they don't even have a VIN yet and no build date. I called my salesman and asked him to give it a higher priority code, it has a 13 right now. Problem is that I have the old vehicle sold at a good price and the buyer expects it mid-May. I asked for a rental until mine is delivered. We shall see. I really like my dealer and I feel they will do what they can for me.

Anyone else run into this pushing back of the build date? ( I hate the robot lady... :nonono: ..)

Thumbs up for me

I just called my inventory manager and my baby is set for build on 4/25 - even got the play-by-play of where she goes during the process.

I hate it that yours isn't going to be on assembly with our babies. I know Stangscuba98a, cheezsnake, torri834 and I all have the same date.

Keep us posted on the progress. Did you dealer give you a reason for the push back??

No, like I said, they don't even have a VIN for me. I have a feeling that they will take care of me with the rental.......I got a great price and the buying process was less than painful, we agreed to a price at invoice within minutes, it was like buying a car from a friend. We will see.

This is the second vehicle I have ordered from Ford.....My 99 F250 Crew Cab Diesel is my daily driver, no problems with that order, no "Robot Lady" then, I just used the phone keypad to enter the info, much easier, seemed to be more up to date then. We shall see.....

I ordered from a VERY small dealer, they had one GT and four V6's on the lot. I do believe they are honest. Look up zip code 95472 and search inventory.

Also remember, each dealer is apparently allotted a certain number of GT orders (at least that's what I've seen on here). If your dealership is small, this may be where the delay is coming from. I ordered mine on 1/22/05 with X-plan and $1000 deposit and never got anywhere with the 1-800-Robot-Lady - finally got VIN on 4/8, then found out 4/11 that she will be build on 4/25.

I think the dealerships generally want to assist with all of the Mustang madness, but they can't control the cars build date. I DO think they could at least keep you posted in the process.

I am not sure why they move the dates sometimes, but it happens. It just sucks that they have moved yours twice already. Mine was originally scheduled for the week of April 4th, but was moved back a week and was built the 13th, just hang in there. Now if I could only find out how long the shipping process is....

Still the week of 25th for me......cannot come soon enough!!!!!!!

Ordered my GT convert on Jan 7th. Heard nothing (Although I called several times) until Mar 24th. Finally a VIN and build date of 4-11. Called my brother in law who works on the new model production at the Mustang plant and said no VIN at the plant yet. Waited until 4-13 and got the word it was going into production on 4-15. Got the call from brother in law the 19th of April.....The mustang was alive and first started at 3:55 PM (He was there) said it sounded great and the redfire color with tan top and tan leather was gorgeous!!!!!!!!!! Excellent choice he said.... He is also tracking the day it leaves the plant so I can be waiting for it when it arrives!!!!!!

Same here. Zengirl did they tell you how long it would take to ship to ATL. My sales guy doesn't have a clue.
YES - it should take about 2 days to get to your dealership after it leaves Pook's Creek, GA. Here's the schedule:

Assembly schedule:

• Build date: 04/25/05 – Flat Rock, Michigan (first-line assembly; approximately 1 day)
• Transferred by railcar to Shelbyville, Kentucky (on assembly line for approximately 2-3 days)
• Transferred by railcar to Pook’s Creek, Georgia for final assembly (1-2 weeks)
• Delivered to local dealership via truck carrier

Shannon-

Ford tells dealers that transit time from the plant to the dealer is
roughly 10 business days. Most of the time it takes less time, but with a
railcar shortage, that sounds accurate. The actual build time is not
concrete either. I've heard it takes 1 day to 1 week. My personal opinion
is 3 or 4 days, but that is just my opinion-not based on fact.

Hey Rob!

I tried to summarize what you told me about the build process - is this
correct?

Assembly schedule:

*Build date: 04/25/05 - Flat Rock, Michigan (first-line assembly;
approximately 1 day)
*Transferred by railcar to Shelbyville, Kentucky (on assembly line
for approximately 2-3 days)
*Transferred by railcar to Pook's Creek, Georgia for final assembly
(1-2 weeks?)
*Delivered to Northpoint Ford via truck carrier

Really thats good news that they don't need to really stop in pook creek.

Zen Maybe they stop their for your dealer so they can add the stickers... I asked the sales guy not to put any of that ugly crap on my car.

I just spoke with the robot lady and my unit is now locked into production. yay
