this is a question rather than stating info but is there a definite answer out there to whether or not recent orders will be filled? I just ordered mine yesterday 4/20 ( I know im way behind) black/ drk chrcl, premium, IUP, manual, etc and I cannot get an answer at the dealership as to whether or not I will be getting this thing. It is a very large dealer (Maroone Ford of Margate, FL) but I keep reading all these horror stories on here about waiting 5 months or more and that was back in the beginning of the model year. When I was giving them the deposit of course the salesman said 12 weeks at the latest-yea right. Just wanted to know if there is a definite answer out there for me and others that recently ordered. thanks-soon to be '05 owner(hopefully)

I ordered my baby on 1/22/05 with X-plan and $1000 deposit. She was C/U for the next three months. I kept calling my dealership and they kept telling me I was 2nd in line for build (from their dealership). I got pissed and called the 1-800-Robot-Lady but that got me no where.

My inventory manager finally emailed my VIN# on 4/8/05 and then called the following Monday, 4/11/05 to say that my baby was set for build on 4/25/05.

Long story short...stay on your dealership's ass and ask them how many GT's they are allotted per month. That was the problem that most of us didn't realize until just recently. Apparently there are an abundance of V6 models, but Ford made a huge error in judging just how popular the new GT's would be.

PS - here is a link to a thread that Stangscuba started http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=533673 - there are a few of us who kept waiting and we all received our VIN#'s and build dates at the same time.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.

I went to a very reputable local dealer here in NY last week and I was told there are no more 05's being produced, you can only get what's on a dealers lot. They could only get me into a '06 and I would recieve it around September. The salesman said 60% of orders placed will not be filled.

I really appreciate the replies. I WILL keep on my dealerships A$$ about getting me the vin and whatnot. On that note I called today to speak with the inventory manager and what a coincidence, she wont be in until monday. Is the inventory manager the person I should be dealing with to get answers or is there a higher power you guys have had better luck with-right now I am only trying to find out if I will in fact be getting an '05 and in 3 months or less. I dont know if this is something the dealership can do but I am going to ask if they can do an inventory search of the whole country and get one transferred here-even if I have to pay the markup-im desperate and my trade in is losing value every day. thanks for reading all this crap- Jan

Do not get answers form your dealer--they know nothing!! Speak directly to the inventory control manager. He basically runs the show on new car orders......

so much for being reputable, they are being built as we speak. no more orders are being taken for 05 mustangs.

100% of orders being placed will not be filled!!
orders already placed by REPUTABLE dealers will be filled.
there is no way to know when your 06 order will arrive, as ford has yet to announce when we can start placing orders.
some dealers are making lists of people wantiumg the 06 model, some are even claiming to order 06's so they can keep that customer out of market until they can order.

I ordered a GT vert on 3/18 (X-plan $500 deposit) and I have DORA. As of 4/20 my order is C/U accoridng to the IVRU. I gave my dealer an ultimatium. If my car doesn't have a build date by 5/20, I'm going to cancel my order and buy a BMW 330ci. This late in the 2005 build cycle, if I don't have a build date by 5/20 then Ford and/or my dealership if full of **** and I don't want to do business with a company I can't trust.

Take this for what it's worth but when I was at the dealership yesterday checking on the status of my car the sales manager told me that I was lucky that I ordered when I did(beginning of March) because I was the last order that was going to get filled for an '05 and everyone else would have to take an '06.He told me that the owners of the dealership had relatives that wanted '05's (GT's I beleive) and they couldnt get them. Now I dont know if they couldnt get allocation for them(small dealership)or they couldnt get them because the demand was/is too high but I thought that was rather interesting that the owners couldnt even get a new Mustang.

Good Luck with your car though,I hope you get it. :)

That is because they ordered cars they knew they could not get because they didn't have allocation. note above post where reputable is upper case for a reason. one reason for the order cutoff is so they can build the cars that are ordered but backlogged.

Why on earth do all of you guys/girls blame the dealership for these problems?? The dealership is not building the cars in the shop, they are only at the mercy of the plant, and when it will be built is up to them!

Giving your dealership an ultimatium  :rlaugh:. At the current demand, I am surprised they didn't refund your money on the spot, because they could sell it for far more then x plan.

Who said anything about blaming the dealer? My rep at the DEALERSHIP told me 10-12 weeks to delivery after order. If I don't have a build date after 9 weeks how could that be possible? You're right that production is out of the hands of the dealer but they can certainly control what comes out of their mouth. So, based on what my DEALER said, if I don't have a build date 9 weeks after ordering I'm taking MY money to a competitor to buy one of their products.

Bought a 2005 GTO yesterday

To heck with dishonest dealers! Terrible price gouging is going on the southeast, and no one really knows the truth about availability...so...

Got a 2005 GTO for $30,500 yesterday. Amazing vehicle, MUCH NICER than the 'stang inside, and the 400hp LS2 motor is a beast. Never owned a GM product before, and I don't know if the two classic stangs in my garage will tolerate it, but this has really worked out for the best. Car is amazing, and I don't have to put up with markups and/or lies!

Yeah, I know...I'm a mustang traitor. But I feel betrayed by Ford and their dealers. Last weekend, the SVT folks were down here in Birmingham for the local Mustang Show. I talked at length w/ John Clor [SVT Marketing] about that particular dealer and their +$4000 pricing on GT's. He says they REALLY hate that, especially for the SVT cars. He told me that he would put me in touch w/ a dealer who would NOT GOUGE to get on the list for a GT500 if I were so inclined.

For now, go test drive an '05 GTO; I PROMISE you will be impressed! Of course, if it is all about brands, name, etc, perhaps not. I am simply burned out from the 'buzz' surrounding the '05 'stangs and lack of availability of V-8's.
