I'm looking at various convertibles and really like the Mustang. I'm 6 ft 1 and too tall to fit in some convertibles. I have to kind of duck to see through the windshield or my line of sight is right at the 'bar' above the windshield instead of through the glass.

So, does the Mustang have headroom and good line of vision for a tall person?
Is there any headroom difference between the V6 Vert and GT Vert?

Also, how about legroom?

Leaning toward the GT Vert, but may consider the V6 Vert due to availability.

Thanks for your info.

im 6 ft 3 and fit in the new mustang great, and with my left foot i can stick my leg out straight to the right of the dead pedal. the car is designed for bigger guys, not like the older mustang or the new thunderbird.... i would highly recommend it.

Don't get a V6 vert only b/c of avalability, You'll probably kick yourself after the GT's start becoming abudnatly available. but to answer your question....with the top down, just about anyone could fit....LOL
I'm 5' 11", and I fit w/ out any problems what so ever in my 05 GT hard top.

I'm 6'-2" and I did not fit on the older Mustangs without extenders for the seat. This was NOT the case with the S197 body! I fit great and even have no problem with the Vert, top closed, wearing a baseball cap. I sit low enough that the window's top is high and not an obstruction. An $80k Jaguar nor a $125k Mercedes can't say that! I have plenty of legroom as long as no-one is sitting behind me. Not a prob for short runs up to town. If it's a long haul with the kids, I'll take the Expedition.

I'm almost 6'6" and I fit pretty good in the new stang. Headroom is fine; It's a little tight to work the pedals, but I can live w/ it.

I owned an 84 and an 86 vert which I fit in well, but the next 2 models were definitely not for tall drivers. I am very pleased to be able to get back into a stang vert-literally.

I'm 6'3" and had that problem with the old verts. I rented one when I was in Florida one year (1994 vert) and the bar was in the way. i drive a coupe now, but I have a ton of headroom and legroom. at 6'1", I'm sure you'll have no probelm fitting into the 05 vert (and get a GT!!!!)

Sure, they have all the headrooom in the world. When the top's down :)

I'm 6'7" Tight fit in the new stang, headroom is about the same as my rust bucket 86 cobra. Dealer said the vert will have more headroom... proved him wrong my head was smashed into the top, right where the cross bar is.
He said he would pay for a seat adjustment for me, can probably get another 2 " of leg room, headroom is iffy might be able to squeeze a 1/2"
Told him if he is paying I'm buying.
Now I just have to wait.... Probably be a 06... roll the dice.

I would like to hear how that adjustment works for you. Was the dealer the one doing the adjustment?

Nope

They were going to send it out to a big mod shop. They estimated the cost would be about 350 CDN.
When the seat is all the way back it will just touch the back seat. There is only 2 " there now so it really didn't matter. Who has 2" thick legs???

The guy doing the job said it will be a simple fix. I told the dealer that he can keep the car until the change is completed. I was not interested in buying the car taking it to a shop and the guy saying it can't be done due to blah blah blah.

I hope it goes smooth but I don't know when my car will come in.

i'm 6'3" - fit OK in my '01 vert - i have TONS of room in my new baby! if i'm just tooling around town i actually move the seat up a couple of inches cuz the clutch is so deep! (that never happens when you're 6'3" - putting the seat all the way back is automatically the first thing you do when you open the car door - especially when you're wife is only 5'3"!!!)

LOL, yeah, same here..wife is 5'3". I've got her trained though..I open the passenger door for her, she gets in, then as i'm walking around to the drivers side, she reaches over and adjusts the seat back for me. (Ok, so it was her idea). She uses the stang to get to work and back, and I drive it the rest of the time (I have a company van for work), so with all the seat adjustments, I figure the first thing to go on this car will be the power seat motor...

Front seat, good!

Hey folks, newbie here!

I've driven several V6 'verts and have had excellent seating position. I'm 6' 5", and I was extremely comfortable in the 'verts with the cloth seats that have manual controls. It's a little tighter with the electric seats and electric leather seats - they seem to sit higher.

However, I don't have quite the "top bar in my face" problem that I had with lots of other older and smaller 'verts.

Of course, the back seat is academic :D

Interesting..that's one of my few complaints of my car - the seating position seems a bit high, even with the seat dropped down all the way. I've heard that complaint made of older stangs too, but the 94 was lower and felt a little more natural, albeit harder for me to get out of.
