Does any body live around Pheonix AZ that has an SLP Loudmouth exhaust or the New flowmaster axel back exhaust kit installed on their 05 GT? I am haveing a hard time deciding which exhaust kit to get so I was hoping that some one around the Pheonix area would have one of these exhaust kits and maybe we could meet somewhere so I could take a listen. I cant make a choice just by listening to sould clips. :damnit:

I would also like to here about the B&B axel back system or any other system out there. Also has any body just taken off the factory mufflers and started the car up to see how it sounds with just straight pipes.

Okay, guys: I'm struggling here. If you remove the factory mufflers, do you just drive around without them or add new ones? Sorry to be so clueless...

An axle-back (as well as a cat-back) is going to replace your factory mufflers. That's pretty much all it is, mufflers and tips (axle-back) or mufflers, tips, and some pipeage before the mid-pipe (x,h,y,etc). If you just "removed" the mufflers, the tips would come with 'em and you wouldn't be able to see any pipe coming out from under the car anymore. I'm sure it would also be loud and very un-street-legal. These SLP Loudmouths they're talking about basically replace the factory mufflers with some really...straight through looking ones, followed by some new tips.

Hope this helps, I've got very limited knowledge myself. I'm just learning as I go :nice:.

p.s. - Also, there are some axle or cat-back systems out there that do totally eliminate mufflers, but you're still going to be replacing that part with some pipes and new tips.

I have taken off the stock mufflers to get an idea of how loud the SLPs might be. It didn't sound nearly as good as those clips do. It was loud, but not insanely loud like I thought it would be.

The SLP loudmouth axle-back kit is straight pipes - but BIG pipes (no muffler whatsoever). To the best of my knowledge, it is street legal (most regulations have to do with emissions not sound levels). I plan to get them.

Hey BOSS,

Im in AZ, mufflerer's removed.

Did it at Scottsdale Muffler. We just put straight pipe back on, and nice chrome tips. Give me a call if you want to check it out. I can get you a great deal on it from them as well.

I (and everyone else so far) think it sounds bad ass.

Yo CASP3R, do you live on the East or West side of Pheonix?

Do you have to do a tune up (predator etc.) when installing an axleback exhaust? I want the sound but dont want to pony up 400$ right now for the tuner.....will I notice any performance difference with the axleback? Thanks.

No you don't need to do a tune, and you probably won't notice any horsepower increase with axlebacks. It's mostly for sound.
