Modifying a catback?

Ok so my car came with a MAC catback on it. I absolutly hate it. First I've been saving up for a Magnaflow V6 catback. Best price I can find =$460. So I'm sitting here looking at Flowmaster 40 seriers mufflers and magnaflow mufflers. They run $50-$80 each. So suddenly I have a magical thought pop into my head. Is it possible to just cut out the MAC mufflers on the catback and replace them with a different style muffler? Will this give me a better sound I'm looking for? I also want Magnaflow rolled tips, which I'm pretty sure don't come on the V6 catback.

So $460 + $65 (how much I paid for my flowmaster on last car to be put on) = approx $525

Or $140 for tips + $130 for mufflers + approx $100 for install = approx $370


Is it possible? Is it worth saving $150 over? WHAT GIVES???

You could buy universal Magnaflow mufflers with the Magnaflow rolled tips and it would work very well with the piping on your MAC cat back

Hmmm seeing your a magnaflow employee you'd probably know best......which is the best muffler to buy from magnaflow that is LOUD but still has a nice note?
