Will my 87 LX need a new hood with the addition of my Performer RPM Upper?

be careful, I got a Typhoon, same as a RPM, and the plenum rubs a little and the breather hose thing that runs to the top of the throttle body made a little dent when I closed my hood after I installed the Typhoon and a 75mm TB (BBK). I dont have a spacer just a really thin gasket between the upper/lower manifold.

My Performer clears fine underneath my hood on my 93 and I would assume the same thing with the RPM upper being put on.

A nice tip I read on was to put playdoh/modeling clay on potential hitting points and slowly close the hood (make sure it is a thin layer) and see if it gets bothered at all. Allow for even more clearance because of the engine's movement and flex of the body/hood under turns...

is your 400 HP car gonna use stock valve covers or "tall" ones? if you go with the latter of the options, you will then have to go with a 1" spacer.

I hope 400 hp (sorry I get excited thinking about power :D ) and have to figure it will have that much since the heads and intake are nicely ported so all I need is a good cam and exhaust.

I will use the same valve covers that I used with it when it was in my 95 so no real concern with that...heck they are Trick Flow valve covers.

My clearance concerns come from the fact I had to have an aftermarket hood on my 95 but those cars barely have enough clearance for the stock intake :nonono: so I'm fishing for answers but in the end I'll just have to find out for myself.
