My car was stripped of all audio equipment as far as I know when I bought it. I just seen a silver-colored box under the radio, behind the shifter. Is this an old factory amp? Worth using?
yes it is the factory amp and no it isnt worth using unless its from the mach460 system. If it isnt it only has about as much power as a factory car radio maybe 20 watts a speaker which is nothing
i though the speaker amps were located right next to the speakers. Well I know they are in my 94 coupe. not sure about my 95 convert. both with mach 460
When I took out the Mach 460 system in my car, the amp for the front tweeters was located near the shifter under the dash. It was a fairly big silver box. I think it had heatsinks on it too.

The Mach 460 system has three amps - one in the stock factory location, and two in the rear tray in the trunk. The center one drives all four tweeters, and the two in back drive the woofers. The convertible has the amps mounted on the chassis behind the rear seat.
The "Premium" sound had a standard amp in the same place as the Mach 460's amp; it drove all 4 speakers in the system. SeventyMach1 most likely has "Premium" sound, unless someone went out of their way to swap out the door panels and remove the door tweeters.

*rereads his post* Ha, that was stupid of me. And I was being serious, too. I should've put a at the end or something. I guess I earned a , or at least a for that. Live, learn, get laughed at.
