Does anyone know when CDC plans to release their shaker hood system? I have been debating waiting for this or just going with the GTR ram air hood. It looks like the CDC shaker you can't use a CAI setup and I don't want to buy one if it won't work. Look at this picture from their website. It looks like the shaker tube is bolted/riveted to the stock air filter box. Am I wrong in thinking that a CAI will not work with it?

i heard they were releasing a kit or a different shaker to make it useable with their system. I think they would, because i know ALOT of use have CAI. Why would you make it so that you can only have stock?

:( I'm pretty frustrated with CDC also. When I first ordered my Stang this was one of the first mods I was looking to complete. They originally told me it would be ready by the first of April. Then they moved it back to the end of April. I haven't talked to them lately but Subzero now says Mid-May.
I don't see why you couldn't use a C&L CAI....I don't think the Steeda will work, but I could be wrong.

Also, you may want to check out the shaker from fang performance. Theirs is a little larger and is set a few inches farther back in the hood. I would like to see one side by side with the CDC but I think I'm going to go that way.

I am in direct contact with Marnie Kramer over there since this is a pressing issue to get done for my car since my company is behind my project. She has advised me it will be mid-may as her best guess.

For some reason I have always loved shakers

Anyways, do you have any photos or links for this alternative shaker? I tried google but came up empty.

Mid-May is a bad date for me. I will be in Europe and was hoping I could drop off the hood+car to my Dad's shop and have it done while I was away so when I came back it would be ready  Oh, well.

Keep us informed when this will be a reality.

Not only do you ruin the beautiful lines on your 05 by installing that trash, its common knowledge hat RAM AIR is a complete and total SCAM. Ram air was a marketing ploy used by the car industry in the 1960's to sell more cars. The Ram Air concept has no basis in fact. In order for Ram Air to function you must compress air molecules in order to provide additional oxygen. You would need to be driving at 400+ MPH to compress air molecules with that ridiculous setup. The funny thing is that people continue to buy this junk and install it on their car in the 21st Century!! PT Barnum was right: Sucker Born Every Minute

Excon you are so full of ****.
A motor is really an air pump. The idea is to get as much air in and out as quickly as possible. However, stock motors actually do not take in as much air as their displacement indicates. This air comes into the motor under vacuum and is assisted by the weight of the atmosphere pressing down (barometric pressure). This process is not very efficient. This ratio of actual air entering the motor versus the actual displacement of the motor is called volumetric efficiency V.E.
A typical stock fuel injected motor is rated at about 85 % V.E. This means that out of the 350 cubic inches of air your motor could theoretically take in, only 85 % of that volume enters the cylinders. This translates to about 294 cubic inches of air. Some all out race motors can reach near 100 % V.E. and supercharged or turbocharged motors actually exceed 100 % by forcing the air into the motor. Not everyone can afford a supercharger but there is definitely room for improvement for the stock motor if you make it easier for it to get air into the motor for combustion. This is what ram air does.
As speed increases, the air entering through the sealed ram air kit actually becomes pressurized. This positive pressure helps to fill the cylinders more efficiency and raises the V.E. of the motor. As the V.E. increases, the motor becomes more efficient and produces more HP and also gives you better fuel economy. You will also find your throttle response dramatically improved. The motor is working less hard to fill the cylinder and is greatly assisted by the high pressure air. The faster your go, the greater the pressurization effect. This is similar to a mild supercharging effect.
The second benefit of a ram air system is that is supplies the engine with colder air than what it would normally breathe. Colder is more dense and contains more oxygen for the combustion process. For every 10 degree drop in intake air temperature, you can expect 1 % more HP. The ram air kit supplies cold air from the bottom of the car which is forced into the sealed air canister. Unlike the stock system, the ram air kit does not let the motor breathe superheated air from the engine bay. Additionally, the computer detects this colder air and adds additional ignition timing. This makes more HP!

Dude stick to your German bitch cars that cant beat a solid axle Mustang on the track.

Thanks, Thunder, for the information. If it weren't for people like yourself, ignoramus' like myself would go around thinking all kinds of stupid things! I would save this info on my computer, but I have so much **it on there already I'd lose it! Anyway, it's nice to know things like this. :p

Here is the information I have been going off of:

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=18678

It has pictures of both the CDC and the Fang. Neither one has a finished product ready for production yet. :nice:

To Thunder and anyone else....just ignore Excon. He is basically a troll that the moderators tolerate.

I've noticed.. infact the mod has deleted a couple of my responses to him.

If you guys actually choose to believe that a hood scoop can actually compress air molecules I suggest you go back to school. That is why they make Turbos and Superchargers. A hood scoop CANNOT COMPRESS air molecules. Look I could care less what you want to believe go waste your money because you deserve to lose it considering the fact that you actually believe a scoop can perform such magic. Do a search and you will see that I am far from the only person who knows the truth about RAM AIR. RAM AIR: What A Joke!!

the shaker isnt a hood scoop....a hood scoop is just a cut out on the hood. This is direct air to the engine is it not?

A CAI will provide colder air to your engine which carries more oxygen molecules than warm air. A CAI is certainly a functional modification but it is not necessary to cut a hole in the hood of your car and install this ridiculous scoop. Actually the proper location for a CAI is usually in the wheel well. A CAI certainly has advantages but RAM AIR is and always will be a scam. You cannot change the laws of physics. It is IMPOSSIBLE for a hood scoop to COMPRESS air molecules. RAM AIR is a scam pure and simple.

Allright Boys I'll take this one :nice:

FIRST: No one asked you anything Excon.

Second: No one called this Ram-Air except for you. It is a Shaker hood scoop that is primarily an aesthetic value ( that means "just for looks"). Stop trying to instigate arguments.

I don't think anyone expects to get significant gains out of this mod like they would a super/turbo-charger. The fact is that the shaker will provide cooler /denser air to the intake. That will in turn create more horsepower. Not much, mind you, but it will provide the CAI with a better intake charge. If you insist on debating please PM me and I'll be happy to oblige.

Wsmatau, glad to see I brightened up your day just a little! As i said RAM AIR is a scam and for anyone to believe that either this Shaker CDC or a fully functional hood scoop will provide additional HP is ludicrous. A proper CAI certainly doesn't need to be hanging out of the hood of your car to provide cooler air. In fact most CAI's purposely draw the air from the wheel well because of the negative pressure in the wheel well. This product certainly looks quite impressive but unfortunately there is no basis for it to improve the performance on your car. If anything it adds drag to your car not to mention looking completely ridiculous. Want cold air? Install a proper CAI and trash that junk the call a shaker. Notice it has the same name as the trash stereo we have in our cars? SKANKER CDC!! Funny how one becomes troll simply because his opinions differ from the majority. Anyone who doesn't go along with what the majority wants to hear is a troll. OK THIS IS ONE FINE PRODUCT AND CERTAINLY WILL PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT GAINS IN TORQUE AND HP. Is this what makes you happy??

Its funny how no one mentioned or asked how much HP or Torque this thing gives. Everyone just stated how cool it looked. Your the one thats coming into these posts starting arguements.

HMM, you know what? If thats the case its even more ridiculous! Why on Gods green earth install something on their car that requires major modifications simply because it looks cool? Why not install a huge wing on the back like the Honda ricers, makes the same amount of sense. They will tell you their wing reduces lift. Give me a break!! Might I suggest something a little more reasonable to piss away money on? Maybe get rid of the Skanker stereo or invest your money into wheels and tires. But too each his own!! If guys want to cut a huge hole in their hood in order to install a plastic box then God bless them! Its their car and they can do with it as they please! I just think there are ALOT better ways to increase performance and or enhance the look of an absolutely beautiful automobile than to cut it up and mount plastic boxes on the hood. Ford finally got rid of the horrible fake hood scoops on the Mustang and people want to reverse the trend towards a Beautiful car and turn it back into the circus act that they used to look like.
Why not just buy an 04 instead? They have the tasteless look built right in!
