some of you may have seen my dilema with the failing converters on my pypes catted x. here is the thread btw. i chose catted because i live near a tightly-knit neighborhood with elderly people, plus i dont want cops to bother me, so dont try and convince me to get offroad (trust me, i'd LOVE to go cat-less).

so what is the best quality catted midpipe (H-pipe preferred) for the money? i've seen the prices at magnaflow and my jaw dropped. i'm looking for between the 350-420 dollar range. how is bbk? how is mac? does mrt make one for a 96-98? i'm mainly asking those who have had a catted pipe for a while (at least a year) and are satisfied with the quality. im only being wiery because i dont want to deal with bad converters again. thanks to those who reply. :nice:

Hey Ryan! I have the MRT H-pipe and I'm satisfied with it. I just checked their site though and the description said it's for 99 and up. Maybe email them real quick to see what they say. :)

I think it sounded good too with the packs, nice and bassy. When I got my magnaflow catted X the MRT catted H wasn't out yet and there weren't any other decent catted H pipes out yet but if it was out I think I might have gone with the catted H instead, mostly for sound purposes.

i dont think mrt makes on for our cars.

what do you guys think about the slp catted x? supposably you can remove the cats and put in straight pipes if you want fairly easily.

i really like the SLP setup. installed it on one car with the stock manifold sounded good. and it gave you the option of droping the cats out :nice: plus if you get long tubes you can remove the frt section and still use the rest.

I think it sounds pretty good but it hasn't sounded the same since the torque converter was installed. Not aggressive enough. Sean (my husband) says it's all in my head though. I think if I were getting new exhaust I'd go with SLP.

Ryan- I haven't paid too much attention to the Mac stuff, but I have heard they used to rust fairly easy.

Ryan my cats have lasted for four years plus and quite beliving
all the negitive things you hear on this forum.Bassani makes a great
X pipe and sure their were a few of their x pipes that had problems
but,Bassani fixed the problems with the cats.I talk to a Salesman at
Bassani and he said the problem is fixed so,you are safe to get a
Bassani X pipe with no worrys.I purchased my Bassani X pipe when
the cat recall was going on with Bassani and how come my cats still
live hummm?
