I hear that dells are pretty good. Also look at toshibas, there are others such as asus, and stuff like that but they cost alot more. Check out http://www.notebookreview.com/
I'm on a Dell Latitude D600 right now... If you are a student, many schools have a purchase program arranged with Dell to allow you a sizeable discount. You could maybe look into that....
Everyone in my office uses Dell laptops without any problems yet. I recommend a Pentium M/Centrino if you can afford it. Or at least go for the P4. Celeron=teh suck
I used to be in charge of a computer lab at my college. All of the machines were Dells and one of their best strengths is their waranty service. So even if you have problems, they'll help you out.
same here man, i use my desktop for gaming and some other things like dvd burning and other things like that, then my laptop is to my left and i use it for instant messeging and internet browsing

If you get someone that can talk english and you can understand. I got a Dell Desktop everytime I call i get people from india that I can't understand and are always saying sir i can't hear you speak up please even though I'm yelling at them.
Might sound like a weird suggestion but take a look at QVC they usually have good deals on Dells and you get a differnt phone # to call if you have problems. Wish I had that number
I was looking at getting the Dell Inspiron 9300. Upgrade to 512mb ram, and te GeForce gfx card. Comes out to just over $1500. $1500 seems like a lot to pay for a comp that will just be outdated in a year, but I'd like to play some games on it instead of just type papers for school... Dont know what to do. Buy a cheap laptop for my tweecer/school work, or buy a nice one to replace the desktop at the house.
