Will these springs work?

My suggestion would be to lower your ride by the standard 1.5"--not too much and not too little. You have to be careful and make sure that you get a spring kit made especially for convertibles. I got the Eibach Pro-Kit and I couldn't be happier with it. It can be had for $233 delivered from coximport.com (model 3530.140). And the ride is superb with those springs! :nice:

this is the way my convertible looks like now, do u think the 1.5" drop is still front bumper safe on dips and speed bumps?

cal mustangs customer serivce is very poor and they will never get my business ever again.You shouldn't be safe with droping your car 1.5"
all around some people go 2" and never have a problem.If you are only
looking for a 1.5" drop than the Eibach Pro kit is the right springs for you.
I do recommend you get new shocks and struts though like Koni,Bilstien,
etc. Also if you go 1.5" you will not have to do caster chamber plates but,
if you go any lower than they will be needed.After two or three week after
your springs settle you need to get an alignment.Alignment is very important!
 
Your car looked like mine before the drop. Believe me, 1.5" is PERFECT! (Actually, to be technically accurate, the drop for the convertible kit is 1.3" for the front and 1.4" for the rear.) I didn't like the look of my Mustang for a long time because of its stance but I didn't know how low I should drop it because I didn't want mine too low. When JonJon posted his before-and-after pics of his dropped Mustang about two months ago, I had to ask what he used because it was the drop I was looking for. It's awesome. :D

Driving around, I have had no problems with the drop at all. As for new shocks and struts, I don't know if that's absolutely necessary. I guess it would depend on how many miles you put on your car so far. If it's under 20k miles don't worry about it. If it's over, then they're something worth considering.
 
Eibach pro-kits should be fine on your car. Since the drop isn't too severe you won't need heavy duty shocks like Bilsteins or Konis which are expensive. You can get Mach 1 shocks for around $180 for all 4, I think thats about how much I paid for mine.

I don't know what kit you are talking about but who would want their rear dropped more than their front?

I have H&R Supersports. The drop is ~1-3/4" in the front and ~1-1/2" in the rear. If you don't want to go that low just get the H&R Sports. Best springs out there. <Period>
 
I have a link with h&r SS springs installed. My air dam scrapes pulling out of some parking lots, andI might be nervous if it was going to be my bumper or side skirts scrapeing. I want a saleen 2000 kit, but like I said I would be nervous. The additional suspension parts can add up fast to, to make everything run right. I needed everything in my signature(susp. related)
 
Go with the Eibach pro kit or Saleen springs (made by Eibach) You will be ok with 1.5" drop. I would suggest spending some money on quality struts and shocks. The factory pcs. are basically junk after 40k plus miles. I would also add some caster/camber plates.

what are caster/camber plates?

assuming I were to lower my car tomorrow, would all I need to bring to a professional installer is the springs, c/c plates, and 4 new shocks?
 
basically yes, and not to sound rude, but you should probably read up on the boards, if you are unsure what c.c. plates are. We were all there at one time. They allow extra adjustment with alignment. springs, struts, c.c. plates,balljoints,bumpsteer. could change when you drop it.
