Whos blower cams should i go with and what stage should i get for most power, lope is waht i like so i'm not worried about chop, just would like the specs and if any body has a dyno graph of any blower cams on a 2.2,I'll also be running comp cams beehive springs.

Also, anyone know anything about JESEL's new doubler roller cam follower and solid lash adjusters for the Modular crowd? If so i'd look into getting both of them and adding them to my stock heads. I want to make most power on stock heads but with the rest of the valvetrain upgraded.

Thanks,
Cory J.

I had Comp cut mine with specs from Dennis Miles there. They were on my car with the t trim, jt trim, 1.7 KB, and the 2.2 KB and worked fine with all of them. I also used the comp springs and ferea valves with all else being stock in the valvetrain. Here's the graph although I don't think it's very readable.

Alright thanks guys,

Screwd2v what MAS meter and intake do you have on that 2.2.

Thanks,
Cory J.
I was using the SCT Big Air MAF and a stock 03 cobra inlet with a steeda cai on the end of it.

Screwd2v,

How much was that Steeda CAI, any fitment issues with shutting your hood?

Also, I was looking at that picture of your engine bay  lol

On the driverside front, is that a vortech intercooler resevoir? If so, is it higher capacity than the stock KB and were there many modifcations for mounting it there?

Do you have any vids of your car on the dyno or on the road with the 2.2? I saw an old dyno vid of your car with a centrif on it while back.

Thanks,
Cory J.

I think $200 or so for the cai........no fitment issues that I remember but I had the steeda hood also.

That is a vortech reservoir. My sole reason for using it was that I hate the bobo tin can that KB supplies in their kits and I also hate where they position it. The vortech tank requires a trunk mounted battery, that's all.

I didn't make any vids with the KBs on the car, sorry.

Yeah, i'm going to have to purchase that vortech resevoir, and some kind of CAI.

Right now i have the C&L 80mm mas air kit, maybe the plastic sheild that covers the filter up will work similar to the steeda one you bought. (i don't have blower or engine built/installed yet).

I'm going to have the car tuned at Modular powerhouse, i read your article in MM&FF KOTS about the 1.7 ''only 500rwhp'' didn't even drive it..thats great, lol! I'll be running a 2.75 pulley and the 6.5in crank for 15psi.

I'm going to have my car trailered from here in Pensacola up to his shop, the thing is should i start the car and let it idle after its completely built w/o driving it before it gets on the trialer just to make sure it runs lol, or after its built just go ahead put it on trailer and head to tims shop?

I called Tim at mod powerhouse asking him about tuning my car, he said he'll put a break-in tune and drive it around, he said for a week he'll have it, then a final tune for most power, what is the break in tune?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how many hours of tuning did it take your car to get tuned right w/ a chip and how much did it cost? I'll have a similar setup as you minus ported heads and N20.

Lastly, are you running a stock Heat exchanger, because i was wondering if i should buy a gords performance exchanger w/ the twin SPAL fans or is the stock KB HE fine?

Thanks,
Cory J.

The Gords is a wise investment although I used the KB unit and never had any problems, even in pensacola where I used to live too. :flag:

I'd put the car on a trailer and get it to tim to let him break everything in. He'll put a soft tune in it to keep it as safe as possible while the motor is breaking in. Starting it and letting it idle and even tooling around the neighborhood a bit won't hurt anything though. Just stay out of da boost (& that is possible with a KB contrary to popular belief).

My old car spent so much time at MPH and probably has well over 100 hours total time on the dyno and street in regards to tuning so I couldn't give you a fair estimate on cost. Providing the car is mechanically sound it won't take any longer than most cars he tunes I wouldn't think but he would be the one to get that info from.
