Is it possible to stay up with a 2003 Cobra, using bolt ons on my 2001 Cobra? I plan on spraying but i want to be able to keep up with them before i spray. Hope this makes sense. My current mods are: Predator Programmer, MAc Prochamber, K&N CAI, Flowmaster Catback, 4:10 gears. What else do i need ?? will shorty headers do anything??

Thanks!!

Not with equal drivers. Your best bet is a short distance race, from a dig (1/8mi.), even then you'll need traction, and it will still be a handful. That being said, there are plenty of '03 out there that you will beat. I've seen them run a slow as 8.9s at local 1/8th mile tracks. Sometimes the car isn't as important as the driver behind the wheel. Good luck! :nice:

pullies - yes...throttle body - no

longtubes will help as well, but then you have to get a new mid pipe as well. your IRS probably won't like the slicks, but if the rear holds up, YES, they will help you. ALOT! Practice will help you too. The fastest timeslip doesn't always win the race. Reaction times and 60' are very important. Just keep practicing. This is for the track of course. And for those that tend to race elsewhere, just hit it a LITTLE early, as long as it's not too early, no one will notice. :p

I have a diablo programmer like i said, however.. would a plasma booster help me?? horsepower wise?? Also any better intake like a WMS??

Thanks for all your help..I just wanna be able to handle the 03 cobra now. then when i get a 100 shot. i'll take them pretty bad. haha

No, the plasma boosters are a waste and usually cost hp instead of giving hp...

You have very high expectations if you want to keep up with 03/04's...with just a pulley, tune, exhaust and CAI they are usually low 12 second cars...You'll need full exhaust and all the bolts ons and be able to drive like a mofo to get down in that region...A solid axle sure does help at the line too...

if i got shorty headers and my x-pipe. Maybe a better intake like a WMS? and pulleys?? That may help. I just wanna be able to hang with them. The people around here that have them are older folks.. like 45+. which they may not know how to drive as good?? Is there a better intake than the K&N?? How about a PRo-M??? will that mess up my timing or lean/rich ratio

stick with hunting 01 and earlier Cobras, most of the 03/04 crowd are modding also. I am over 45, and no way you would hang with me... sorry...

You are asking alot of your 01' to hang with an 03-04'. You need all the mods listed above and with equal drivers you may have a shot against a stock 03-04' snake. Mess with a modded one and do yourself a favor and save your gas. Good luck. :nice:

why bother spending the money on all those mods when you could save it, and trade into an 03-04, hell if you wait long enough you could trade into the GT500, and beat these guys STOCK!!!

Personnally, I am hoping to get an 03-04 before September!

dont mean to hijack the thread but just a random question that kinda pertains to this
Im just getting outa college and I have a 99 cobra relatively stock except gears and it has 81,000 miles, do you think I should should save up for the money to supercharge it or just save up and wait until I can afford an 03/04? Im just looking for like 400 hp but I just dont wana throw money into my ageing car if the motor will just blow up or anything else that may go lol, I know this is an opinionated question but Im curious what you all think
thx
also Im one of those that is pretty attached to their car haha , if ya know what I mean. so it would be tough to part

Get 03-04....All others have hyperpathetic and cast internals...03-04's have forged...and a t56.

You will have better longetivity.
