Fog Lamp Tinting pics

Hey all,

As with the louvers... I just cant keep let things be. :rolleyes:

I had a local guy install a window tinting material over my fog lamps.

As you can see in the pics I went with yellow.

He is currently creating kits to sell online (ebay?) that will allow tinting the fog lamps yellow, light grey, dark grey, or blue.

I'm also allowing him to test and photograph the tinting on my headlights and taillights.
(But it will not be permenant, as I like them the way they are)

Opinions vary......

One thing is for certain... they are not the "normal" spacing.

They DO line up well with the fog lamps.

Since they are vinyl... they are not final.

They may change once I decide to have them painted on.

ok, didnt mean to offend, but they just make the car look a little funny,
 
I went with a 35% smoke tint. Two reasons... One to blend with the blackout look, and two to hide the RED and BLUE strobe elements. Both the driving lamps and the strobes are in use, on seperate circuits.

I looked at 20%, but this would render the driving lamps useless.

That looks sinister as hell! Red and blue strobes? I think you just made the worlds meanest looking interceptor. For Gods sake, take the photos off the net! I don't want the OHP getting any ideas!

Thanks for the compliments. Sinister is just what I wanted... All I did was tint the lenses and paint the pony black.

Interceptor is exactly the idea, but I was not the first. Just playing on old experience in building and maintaing police cars, and appliying it to the GT... After all, the 180 MPH LS-1s are about to go out of service soon.

The first in use in the US is RED with Black racing stripes, and NO city markings. Stallings NC (Link below). Watch out, more to come... LOL!

I forgot to add a couple of tips...

First, this is a cheap mod ($5-10), if you remove the lamps yourself. Remove the grille by pushing in the tabs and pulling toward the front of the car. Then remove the 4 Torx screws and the adjuster assembly on each side to allow the lamps to come out. When reassembling, the VENT tube is clocked to 12 facing the rear of the lens. Both lenses are the same part number, and only go back in correctly or 180 degrees off.

The lenses are NOT perfectly flat, so expect 3 small wrinkles (One per 1/3 of the OD on each lens). Do not try to cut, because when the tint overlaps itself, it is MORE unsightly than the three small wrinkles. You cannot see the wrinkles standing right in front of the car.

Use CARBON based tint, which is recommended to allow flexing and compensating for heat variations. This I am told is the best way to maintain a long lasting finish.

Crash, I can't view the pic. All I see is the red square. I'm curious about the LEDs, plus I like the blackout look. I'm a firefighter and want to add lights but I I don't want them to be visible when off. I like the tint over the lights idea to hide the strobes. I was thinking stobes in the turn signals (I would change the yellow housing to clear or smoke) so they'd be visible from the side but the housing is a bit small. Any ideas?

Let me first say that I like the looks of the tinted lenses. You guys did a great job.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to make any lights darker (front or rear). Even though the stock Ford headlights are tinted, which look good, I still question Ford's decision in making the headlights less bright for purely cosmetic reasons. It seems like a safety issue to me.
 
I would not do the headlamps (I agree with you, and need good headlamps patterns), but I never liked the driving lamps, so I went for it.

The driving lamps leave a lot to be desired. The pattern spreads to the sides of the car, not forward. For cornering, maybe, but no use to me, or at high speed.
