Just wondering insted of using a regular Carb air filter. Would it be beneficial to get a Car Hat attach and route it to the fender wall and attach a conical filter? So it is like a cold Air for a Carb.
I thought about doing something like that with a old mac cold air intake and procharger hat but haven't had time to make something that doesn't look crappy yet.
One advantage to a carb hat is that it sort of makes it look like EFI (to those who don't know much about cars)... I got an open airfilter element that sits in the scoop... true cold air
Will the Carb Hat help gain any power. THe reason I ask is because in Force Induction cars the carb hat that I was looking at actually gave it estra power
The one advantage I can see of running a carb hat attached to tubing and maybe a decent conical filter is the ability to draw in colder air. Colder air is more dense = more power. I doubt it will be A LOT of difference in terms of power, but more is always better when it comes to hp/torque. If you were to use a traditional filter on the carb, you will likely have more heat soak and lose some power lets say if you're sitting in traffic and then decide to romp on it(but when you're up to speed, I doubt heat would be a problem with all the air circulating under the hood.)
