You shouldn't have a problem if you practice your launches.

It's a driver's race, with your traction being what's holding you back.

Lower control arms will help you hook up as will better tires.

For more power to pull him on the top end, the tried and true CAI/TB/plenum combo will open it up, and gears will get you into the sweet spot faster.

If you seem to shift slowly, a Tri-Ax or MGW shifter will help quite a bit.

See where you're losing that car length to him and adjust as needed.

Even if you lose, at least you drive american.

It should be about a tie right now IMO, if you really stick your launch. You have a low-end and mid-range edge you have to take advantage off, or else your just playing into the 350's strengths.

And if you bolt up a t/b and an upper plenum w/gears like stangpro said, you would have a definate advantage.

I've been racing my good friends Z for a year and a half, every week at the track. I beat him off the line almost every time and hold the lead up till about the 1/8. That's when he use to close up and pass me. He traps 101 to 103 on every run. I must say that since installing the predator tune, it's not as easy for him to catch up anymore. I still have a better all time best between the two of us. My 13.823 compared to his 13.824 :p . He still insists his car is faster than mine because he has a higher trap speed. He has to justify the $50 000+ canadian in his mind I guess.

go for the gears, and then maybe the pullies, TB/Plenum combo. i agree w/the others though, you should be able to take him in your present set up, so if you continue to perfect your technique, plus add the extra parts, you will put more distance on him.

of course 9 PSI of boost would be fun, too.

For bolt on, underdrive pulleys and a cold air induction...

theres 5 hp... that doesnt fix a car length

Gears, pullies, and the T/B intake combos are all simple stuff that adds up together. The cold air... its still debatable

Like said above you shouldn't have problems... I dont recall it being too tough of a race when I was near stock... Dont have any problems with my dads 2 friends with 350s now

I wouldnt worry about the hole DR thing, everyone thinks that if you kill him off the line then you have a faster car...BUT on the highway DRs do nothing and you will still loose, but from a 25MPH roll 3.73s will help ALOT. Also if I were you I would get an O/R X pipe, because your not equalizing really any pressure with that H in your exhaust past around 4K, just like having no mid pipe at all, also get some UD pullys and a TF upper plenum (cheapest and they are all with a few HP of each other)..as for the TB, its only good for a few HP as with the intake. SO if you get 3.73s, pullys, X pipe, and plenum, you should own him. I havnt raced one yet, so i cant speak of their speed....but I do know they trap around 102 stock, it takes some mods to get the 99-04s to do that. Stock you will NOT beat him on the highway if he knows how to downshift and nail the gas LOL.
