As for the smoke smell, I do believe you could nail Ford on that one. They could either replace the entire interior trim (seats, carpet, dash etc.) or do the right thing and locate - immediately - another one like yours and let you start out new again.

now we're talking

I am sorry to hear about your problems. However, don't get me started on the crappy quality and service experience I have had with GM vehicles. All manufacturers have their problems. (The only zero problem car I ever owned was an Acura.)

If you like the Mustang, buy it. Odds are you won't regret it. If you are a GM fanatic don't be silly enough to buy something else. You are just setting yourself up for disappointment. (Same for the Ford fanatics....)

Personally, I am very happy that I moved from the BMW 540 to the Mustang.
Vacooley-that's a strong endorsement to go from a 540 BMW to the stang. I realize there's a big price difference, but how do the engines and the handling compare?

last night i am drving home from my friends house. stop at a light, smell somthing burning. the clutch feels really light, like there is no fluid, and it wont go into gear. stop push my brand new $30,000 car off the road, wait a couple mins, and now it wont start. starter just spins. wait 3 hours for towing, now today ford hasnt even looked at my car. my dad was right. we have both always driven gm cars. my 1999 yukon with 180,000 miles on it has never broken down. this piece of crap is going to be in the shop all weekend. i think i am going to sell it and buy an 01 camaro ss. Found On Road Dead is a true saying i guess. DONT BUY ONE.
Wanna get rid of those toys you haven't installed on it yet

A customer of mine had the exact same problem happen on his ride home in his new Diablo. Imagine being stuck on the side of the road (I-95 in his case) with clutch fluid burning off the exhaust while waiting an hour for a tow truck. He said he thought he was a stand up comedian because he got laughed at A LOT!

BTW you don't need a clutch to drive a Mustang, start her up in second then modulate the throttle to get her in 4th and away you go!

its not to fun when your driving a hot girl you just met home, and the car breaks down with less than 1000 miles on it. after an hour and a half i told her to go home.

I had the same thing happen to me in my corvette back in 94 - i never saw the girl again  I felt like a total  Oh well I'm sure she's fat living in a trailer park by now. :rlaugh:

hey i love the car too, its the best car i have ever driven, but i use it for work, and its not to fun when your driving a hot girl you just met home, and the car breaks down with less than 1000 miles on it. after an hour and a half i told her to go home.

wow thats really horrible good luck with the hot girl hopefully she is not a lemon either. I always find it intresting that this bad luck always happens to former cheffy or GM owners. It's just a car my freind you'll live another day to get a new one. remind yourself it is just a car. GROOOSFABA. :nice:

Sorry to hear about the problem with your 'stang. I work on Fords all day and hear it all. It sounds like your dealer needs a little prompting, and if they still drag their feet call another dealer and see what they can do. It may be a part problem or just an overbooked service schedule. Either way, remind the dealer that as a first time warranty customer, you will get a survey that can and will affect their CSI (customer satifaction index) score. I know at my dealer this is very important because we get a bonus if our CSI is high. I hope you get your car fixed and give it a fighting chance. I grew up hating and refusing to drive or work on a Ford product. I am now a Ford master technician and own four Ford products and one Chevrolet (a restored '71 C-20 truck). Remember, all cars are just machinery and are subject to failure.
Good luck !!

So I didn't get a call from the dealer, so I went in there today. The car needs a new starter and flywheel. The mechanic said some bolt or something got into it. So some nit wit probably didn't screw something in all the way. O well I get the car back b4 the weekend since they have to drop the tranny. Now I have to wait till next week so start slapping mods on. At least I know when I will be getting it back now.

I think it's interesting that a 2nd generation GM buyer just happened to buy an '05 GT and just happened to breakdown immediately after he bought it. What drove you to buy a Mustang over say, a GTO? Could it have anything to do with the fact that it looks like the "Mercedes of Rental Cars"...aka... a Grand Am?

What is a "nit with"? I've heard of a nitwit (someone stupid) so a "nit with" must be smart because he has what a nitwit is lacking. :rlaugh:

Oops ya it was supposed to be nit wit, I am on my sidekick and was walking down the street when I wrote it. And yes the gto sucks it looks like a big cavalier. Or any other of the junky pontiacs except the x body. And what do you mean it just happened to break down? Are u trying to say I screwed something up in the car? The only mod is yellow fogs. I haven't put anything else on the car yet. So I guess it "just happened to break down" after I "just happened to buy it"

Glad to hear it's all gonna work out in the end. Have fun with the mods and be sure to let us know how the cars running after it's all done up.

The 4.4 V8 in the BMW was higher reving. In fact, I was reving the s**t out of the stang the first day I took it home without realizing it. Just needed to adjust my senses to the lower power curve (not less power, power at lower RPM) and different sound/feel of the stang. Overall, the power was very close to the same but the stang is lighter and a little lower geared.

The BMW was much easier to drive fast. I already scuffed a rim on the stang driving hard into a turn that the 540 would handle with ease. Just goes to show that absolute skid pad nbrs don't tell the whole story in the real world. I suspect that I will be faster with the stang given some time to adjust to it. The solid axle is a little challenging on rough corner entry (you can't quite get setup for a hard exit 'cause it bounces you around a little).

All that said, I am having MUCH more fun in the stang than the BMW!!! My wife likes driving the stang better as well.

No regrets on the trade.
